So here I am again with this major sinus/throat thing going on-sick as a dog. I had remembered seeing something listed under the Side Effects of Xyrem related to nose and throat so I went back to check it out. Sure enough it lists NASOPHARYNGITIS as a side effect. So I look up that word and basically it means nose/throat infections. Holy Crap! This is the second time I have had this since I started taking Xyrem. I am so over this Xyrem crap. I have only been taking it for 7 weeks now-2 sinus/throat infections later-a major high blood pressure scare-I am just not sure if I can keep on like this. My husband is asking me why can't I just take a major strong sleeping pill, and I can't remember what my doc said was the reason xyrem is so different to even explain to him. Finding foods that are low salt-for the high blood pressure thing -is dreadful I can tell ya! I haven't even told my doc about that yet I wanted to see if I could just eat better a couple weeks and fix it myself. It went from before being very normal-to 3 weeks of being on Xyrem at 158/88, so after eating better-now 141/87. Still not good but definately better, but I have not been eating much either-and gosh dangit I do like to eat! I do have to call my sleep doc this week and let him know what's going on. Especially since my PCP has never heard of Xyrem-since I had to go to him just 5 weeks ago and get anti-biotics for this nose/throat thing once already. He said he was going to research it, I can't wait to see if he really did take the time. He has been my PCP for about 18 years now. Anyway, I know everything will be fine. I just have to get over this infection, figure out if my sleep doc can just try something else instead of the xyem for awhile to see if it really is that giving me the High Blood pressure. It all just takes time, and when we are sleepy and drained of energy and trying to take care of a family and a husband and a FT job and a house-it gets overwhelming. I know I sound like I bitch 24-7 but really I am a fun person-at least with my work frends! HappyHappy-I am still trying to be!
