It's 1.20am and I am awake........ the bed is uncomfortable, I can't seem to breathe properely -I nearly fall asleep and then suddenly awake again -what a desperate feeling. I've just taken a sleeping tablet and I didn't want to take again! My eyes are burning.....the night and I are starting to hate each other :(

I am SO sorry you are having sleeping difficulties. I take sleeping tablets (Ambien) when I absolutely have to break a \"no sleep\" cycle. I always have interrupted sleep, and I always need to nap during the day, but I can still be productive if I pace.
Just want you to know that I totally understand how our beds can be our greatest necessity but the thing we hate the most....at the same time. We must rest! Our illness dictates it. Take the pills as needed, because unrested, we are bound to crash and burn.
Nasty illness, this CFS. It makes the rules. We have each other to get through it all together. You are not alone my friend.
Praying that you sleep well tonight!! xo
Yeah, I have such trouble sleeping. I have yet to get prescription pills, but I am thinking about asking for them. Have you had a sleep study? I have not had one yet, but my mom has sleep apnea. What you mentioned about not breathing well and waking suddenly sounded a bit suspicious. If you had that, they have a machine that you can wear to bed. Yeah, I know, you can barely sleep as it is. It\'s hard to imagine trying to sleep with tubes up your nose. I agree with Darla that we have a love/hate relationship with the bed. I know how frightening and frustrating our daily struggle is. Not many people have a glimpse into CFS from the inside, but we feel you. We know what you are facing. Rest the best you can. May you have divine rest and may the angels cover you as you sleep. Much love.
Thank you for the support ladies. I have prescription medication - took the last half last night. I try not to take all the time but when the night comes and the sleep doesn\'t, I don\'t care and take another one! Which doesn\'t help with the sleep apnea - I had a sleep study done 5 yrs ago and tried those CPAP machines. It was impossible to sleep with them and they dried all the passages so much. used with a humidifier was claustrophobic!
So all very frustrating - I decided I have to try this route again, try harder this time to sleep with the machine. If it makes me feel better then obviously worth it. Sleep study showed oxygen levels drop to 88% in night and I was having 19 apneas per hour. Sleep staging was poor, with 0%in stage 4 sleep and only 2% REM sleep. So this could be the reason for daytime fatigue and tiredness, and brain drain!
So you should all get this checked if you suspect apnea.
I have an appointment with a pulminologist this morning - his name was on my sleep study so decided to go to the specialist because the doctors just disregard that this could be causing me health problems - even though the polysonogram was done!! Doc said I don\'t have the right profile for sleep apnea!! Cause I\'m not a man and overweight!
So prayers please, that I will be able to tolerate this mask over my face if that\'s what I need.
Thank you for your understanding .. We have to sleep - it is impossible to have good health without it.
With love and blessings xxx
Hi there it\'s your insomniac friend here.I know that feeling only too well, where you start to fall asleep and then you just can\'t. I hate surrendering to sleeping tablets as they always give me side effects.Unfortunately sometimes, and more often than I would like, I am forced to take them or stay awake all night.I am presently taking a herbal sleep aid and also trying 5 htp.We need deep long sleeps to help heal of course and one would think we would sleep more considering the fatigue we have.Actually some people with cfs seem to sleep a lot and others like us just can\'t get enough.Depleted adrenals and hormones I think. So sorry you are suffering.I pray you start to have long deep beautiful healing sleeps soon.We are already struggling so much ,without sleep deprivation on top of if all.Hang in there.Love peace and healing to you xo
Oh I have just noticed your comments that have just come through as I just finished my comment. So you do have sleep apnea and your problem is totally different to mine.Sounds like it would be worth trying the machine again for sure.I don\'t have any breathing problems at all ,however severe fatigue with tremors through my body seems to be the biggest contributing factor with my insomnia.Good luck xo
Oh, you poor thIng :(
So many different reasons but the end result is the same - no sleep - fatigue!
I am taking 5HTP too. Melatonin is good but we can no longer
Get over the counter and need a prescription which Is annoying!
Lots of love and prayers for restorative sleep xxx
Sorry to hear you are going through this, it is not something I know much about but it sounds horribly frustrating. I do take a herbal remedy which combats sleep trouble and anxiety, it\'s called Valerian and any herbal shop sells it. I understand it might not be right for you though. Sending you lots of healing and restorative energies. CFS is commonly linked with trouble sleeping, a friend of mine is almost nocturnal as a result, at the CFS clinic here they are really strict, telling us not to sleep in the day, but it\'s almost impossible sometimes!! Best of luck on your journey xxx
