Scared
Still typing lying down so not typing much. Sad and afraid about my foot. I hope its getting better. There is still some swelling and quite red so I'm insecure about it. It looks worse than it did when they did the second surgery. The doctor keeps saying it is looking great... but that is what he was saying after the first surgery... I asked the doctor if he could order blood work... I wanted the reassurance of a low white cell blood count but he refused... He said I should call the infectious disease doctor and ask him... I called left a message but the infectious disease doctor did not call... As I said I feel very insecure... I hate to be such a wet blanket... I just had to express how fearful I am...

Dearest Elissa, I can feel your suffering and anxiety through your words. I am so sorry for you, my friend! I wish I could hug you and just sit with you for a while................ Please don\'t lose hope, because I will pray with you for your complete healing. You are an amazing friend!
Lots of warm, loving hugs!! xxx
It is not a hardship to do blood work. If it gives you peace of mind, then they should do it. I can understand your concern.
Take care,
Tight hugs, M
I can certainly underswtand your fear. I would worry about you more, if you weren\'t concerned. These days, we have to be our own doctors, to a certain degree. I apologise, that I did not realize you had the second surgery. Guess FB and games, I missed that somehow!!
As for leaving a message with the infectious desease doc....call the office multiple times. Make a pest of yourself!! You know what they say, about the wheel that squeeks the loud\'est gets fixed first!!
I am having problems in my abdomin. The hernia must be getting larger, as I am having bloating, gas and discomfort. Not really pain, but discomfort. I go to the oncologist/gynocologist Friday, for another pap smear. If it is still abnormal, he will scheudule me for a laser surgery, to correct it. Out patient surgery, but I will be put to sleep and someone will have to drive me.
Aint\' getting old fun??? Beats the alternative, of course.
Keep us informed, please ma\'am..
((((HUGS)))), Julia
hugs dear soth, I understand your concern.
Understanding why you are feeling the way that you are and I have always believed that we know more about our health needs than the docs. If you are having concerns voice them as you are and don\'t stop. I wonder why your doc didn\'t want to order another blood panel work up for you as that seems odd to me? Did he say why he wouldn\'t do it? Just curious about that.
Sending you lots of heartfelt care and understanding. Not feeling well, having worries, it\'s so very hard and you have every reason to feel your concern. You are your best advocate so keep asking for what you need, Elissa. Docs need to listen to their patients and their families as they do not always know best and you know your body better than anyone can.
I\'ve been wondering how you have been feeling and am grateful you wrote a journal today.
Gentle, gentle care and a tight healing (((hug))) from me to you. I\'m sorry that this has been such a tough time as it has been. You just want to and need to see a few glimmers of hope that your body is healing and responding to the interventions that have been done.
Hand in hand and Heart to heart,
XO Joanie
You have every right to be concerned and even fearful after your last experience. Just listen to your body and the signs and symptoms of infection., fever, redness, warmth, pain, red streaks, purulent drainage. I\'m not sure if they can just order blood work without specific reason and if his notes don\'t show concern that your counts may be elevated such as an infection etc, then possibly insurance wouldn\'t pay. I\'m not too sure but this Obama care really stinks and facilities are really cracking down on things like that. Speedy recovery. Much love. Robin
Elissa, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers often. I wish I could do more. It is scary when things go wrong with our bodies. It is so easy to take our health for granted. For awhile, I wondered if my ankle was going to let me walk, it was so painful for those first few days on it (and it was bunion surgery, not ankle surgery). I just could not understand and the doctor did not seem to know. I imagined never walking again or being limited in my walking. I think I was just too impatient with my progress as it seems fine now and we walked a little over a mile around a nearby pond a couple weeks ago. Still the foot feels a bit odd and it causes me worry now and again... But it is less and less, thank goodness.
I have to agree with Julia and Joanie too though, we do need to be our own advocates. I often think doctors don\'t know as much as we would like to believe. It is so hard to know when to speak up for yourself and when one is needlessly worrying. I think as we get older, it is scarier. It is also hard when you cannot do anything to keep busy. I feel for you, dear friend. Try to take care and know that you are not forgotten here, despite not being able to type!
Meanwhile you have my prayers and my love, and the love of the rest of us here. Keep checking in with us when you can.
Sending love and prayers,
Leda
Hoping you are feeling better today. If you\'re still concerned and want the blood test, I would keep calling the doctor. It could just be taking them a while to call since it is a holiday weekend. Hugs, Paula
You do know your body better than anyone. Listen to that small voice. Call the infectious Dr. back. The squeaky wheel and all that
