OOPS

I shared this on the GBS site as I wanted my friends there who like me may have been taken off Simvastatin and low dose aspirin after they had the GBS they might need to resume taking them once the concern for hemorrhage had ended...
I don't want to scare anyone.  I had a mini stroke September 9.  I have been going through a lot since it happened.  A whole battery of tests to determine how much damage was done etc.  Luckily its not awful.  I'm quite dismayed though.  I thought I was doing so good.  I've lost around 150 lbs, my sugars are great, I'm walking, I was so excited... I got to fly this summer... without an extension.  The neurologist said even though my cholesterol is good he wanted me to start taking Simvastatin again and my primary care doctor put me back on the low dose aspirin.  The doctors who did my surgery had take me off them after my surgery and no one had told me I'd need to go back on them.  Yesterday my husbands renal specialist said that is probably why I had the mini stroke.  She said they should have put me back on the simvastatin and low dose aspirin a couple of months after the surgery that diabetics are known to have problems with blood clots.  I hope if any of you were on low dose aspirin to prevent the formation of clots and the doctors took you off them after GBS you will ask them if they know any thing about the increased risk for diabetics.  I think I'm going to be fine, but I'm dismayed to say the least.

By the way... on a happier note... So Tuesday I was evaluated for Physical Therapy PT and Occupational Therapy OT   So most of my problems are with my left arm/hand... so they said we'd work on that in PT... I wasn't too worried about my foot or leg... that is what the OT mostly works with... but oh... now I want lots of OT...  because although the damage is minimal... there is some... and they thought that aquatic therapy would be good... and they set me up to work with a young lady named Cara OMG.... ask me if I cried... Let me tell you... I could hardly keep myself from losing it right there... but I held it in... I even managed to ask how she spelled her name... She spells it with a K... Kara....  oh... she spells her name wrong...  I made a little joke with the therapist Robin I was talking to... again... super difficult... barely breathing...  Inside I'm just thinking... Oh now I soooooo want to go to do the OT... I need lots of OT...  I'll get to work with a girl named Kara... I forgave her... even  if she does spell her name wrong... *Smile*

I walked from the back where they did the evaluation back to the front lobby... The lady behind the check in desk said something cheerful... I don't even remember what... My mind is in a whirl... I won't get to go till Tuesday... oh I want to go now... I managed a choked response... keeping my head everted... afraid I'm about to bust out crying... I'm barely out the door Richard behind me... I know he's wondering what my silence and my hurry are about... I'm a chatty Cathy... but right now... I'm almost running trying to get outside... so I can let it out... and immediately I started telling him... about this therapist I'll be seeing... her name is Cara... well Kara... but because I didn't stress the leg and foot... I might not get to see her but a couple of times... and I'm crying... but I'm glad too... No she's not my Cara... Did I ever tell yall my Cara went through a spell in Jr High when she thought spelling her name Kara had more pizazz...  but I want to meet this girl Kara... maybe I'm thinking this is a sign that my Cara is with me... and I know its just because I want it to be so... but I can't help it... we're always longing for and missing them so... so... right now... I can't think of anything but wishing Tuesday would hurry and get here...

I believe Cara is with you. I smiled when you mentioned that Kara thought about changing the spelling of her name. Lisa had a spell when she wrote her name a Finnish way - Liissa. She liked double letters.
I am glad that things are going well.

It is so nice, to get this update from you. Physical therapy sounds great and I am sure it will really help, in your recovery.
Of course, Cara was with you and that was a sign from her. The other girl just spelled her name wrong, lol...
BTY...How in the world did you lose 150 lbs? I have got to lose some weight now!! My knees, back and hip are hurting me now. I just havn\'t decided what route to take, on my weight loss journey.

Knowledge is powerful and you are so wise and kind to share. Wishing you the very best as you heal and knowing with all of my heart that our children try in all ways possible to let us know they are with us. Thanking Cara that she showed up at the perfect right time for you, Elissa.

Healing hugs and always remembering your Cara and isn\'t that something how so many times our children go through those stages of wanting to change the spelling of their names... I remember one summer when my daughter, Sarah, thought her name should be Taylor. That didn\'t last long. :)
