Good Morning
Does anyone know what kind of turtle this is... She was out on the patio yesterday morning... and her marking are just so beautiful... I painted C A R A on her shell toward her tail so I wouldn't obscure her beautiful markings... water based non toxic paint yall... and set her free... I had put the camera up and didn't want to wake Richard up to go get it again so I didn't get a picture of her with Cara's name on her... I am hoping maybe she will visit again... My grandmother used to have turtles come back year after year to her house... she had an area beside her back porch where she put things like lettuce, bread and bacon to feed them... I am wondering how this turtle ended up here... I've lived in this house for over 10 years now and we have never had a turtle show up here before... I would have loved to have kept her but didn't think it would be right...
I keep thinking about Barbara too... In one of our conversations Barbara had said she'd find Cara and hug her for me and tell her how much I loved her...

It is a common Eastcoast Box turtle.

You cannot really keep them. My ex and our son tried years ago and they all died. It was sad. They have a varied diet and schedule.

You did wonderful by releasing him into the wild, where he belongs!
Peace.

That turtle is beautiful. They may be common as Binky said but I\'ve never seen one before and I\'ve been around for 65 years and seen a lot of turtles. It\'s Cara and Barbara giving you a sign in my opinion.
YES! Cara.....Barbara.....and Morgan! Our little turtle messengers of love and patience!
Cara and Barbara came to visit! How cool is that!! It is a beautiful turtle, even if she is common.
Hugs, Marlene
Hi Cara. Hi Barbara....
Yes, she is a beautiful turtle! I didn\'t mean to hurt any feelings by calling it \"common\" LOL. It is just what they are called and you asked if anyone knew what kind of turtle it is. There are 11 different types of box turtles in North America and this one, they call an Eastern Turtle or a Common Box turtle. Their real name is Terrapene carolina. Here is an interesting fact filled website is you would like to read about these magnificent turtles:http://www.arkive.org/common-box-turtle/terrapene-carolina/

LOL Belinda... I was teasing you... I gathered that was the species name... I am a wee bit daft... all right for those of you who know me... I\'m a wee bit more than a wee bit daft... now... say that fast three times... LOL Hugs Elissa
NO I DON\"T!! The turtle has beautiful markings!! Have you looked up turtles with beautiful markings?!?! Hugs, Kelly
Wow that is a beautiful \"sign\" from Cara and Barbara! Love and Hugs, Vera
