First of all because it filled my heart with such joy for her... I want to suggest that you read Bailey's journal of the 16th...  Second I just wanted to share the following with you... Hugs Elissa Cara's Mom My daughter in law, Liz forwarded the alert that follows my letter and it made me think....  so I wanted to share a story about a hijacking that happened to friends of ours... Wayne is in the community band with my husband Richard... so anyway  Mary, Wayne's wife stopped at a local gas station...  They had a truck... and kids love the trucks... anyway after she gets her gas she gets in her truck and starts the engine...  a young man taps on her window and she rolls down the window... He tells her that he smells gas and she may have a leak... Without a thought Mary pulls the thing to release the hood and steps out of the truck... leaving it running... her purse inside... preparing to go look under the hood...  the kid jumps in the truck and he's gone... Mary called her husband first... he gives her the plate number from paperwork they have at home... then she called the police... They had already spotted the truck because it was being driven recklessly and erratically in a nearby subdivision... a short time later the thief wrecks the truck, rolls the truck about 4 times, and is caught... The truck was totaled...  Mary and Wayne had to replace their truck and of course get all her credit cards changed etc...  I can only imagine how fearful Mary is now of seemingly friendly people who want to tell her she has a low tire or something...  By the way the kid wasn't hurt... I resent that he will probably get off with an oh you poor kid you've had a deprived life etc and a slap on the wrist...  Mary and Wayne are okay although I'm sure that their trust level is at an all time low... Unfortunately trusting each other is something that is going to go the way of the dodo bird and dinosaurs...    The following was forwarded to me.... I can not say its true... I don't know... but it certainly sounds like something that could happen... so it won't hurt to be cautious...  As I told you the previous incident happened to friends of ours and is a matter of public record in Baton Rouge, Louisiana...   Warning..!!!! Warning..!!!! Warning...!!!!   Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car Then we received this email yesterday:   WARNING FROM POLICE  THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MENBEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE-- NEW WAY TO DO CAR-JACKINGS (NOT A JOKE) Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating.... You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse.  When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.. So, you shift into park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, yourmoney, and your keys.  Your home and your whole identity arenow compromised!  BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED. If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later.  I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.
