On a TV show recently someone was talking about how being bipolar can actually be an asset..  That the intensity of emotions they experience translates to other areas of their lives...  I have often thought that perhaps while when I get depressed I can go way way down... that I love so strongly... I think I am blessed to love so strongly... I don't really want quasi moderate emotions for people I even just like... I really want to like them... and I do... Its hard in one way... If something happens the fall is such a long way down... But I do feel I live more abundantly at times... <>I have heard and read a lot lately about another I guess you can say positive aspect to being bipolar... I don't remember what they call it but I've often had I guess you could say problems but I don't always consider it a problem of my brain being very active... sometimes it is a problem as I can get so bent out of shape over issues I have no control over... government stupidity, corporate fraud, etc... LOL but seriously most of the time I'm grateful I think... I'd hate living dull and smug and satisfied... you know just here... burp... hand me another beer... LOL<>Nicknicksmamakitkat... girl its a long name I may have added something... LOL will understand what I was saying about getting bent out of shape.... I should have added stupid people huh... *Smile*  So what do yall think... Will the real crazy woman stand up... and everyone in the room stands up... because not to admit to being crazy might mean you're... a burp pass me a beer kind of person... LOL Wanted to add a thought... I can be a burp pass me a beer kind of person...  at a seafood boil... oh yeah... throw me a tray full of them boiled shrimp, crabs, and crawfish... plenty plenty hot...  mais oui... I need another beer....  *Smile*  Yall just don't know livin till you attend a Louisiana seafood boil... Dang this cold weather... be another couple months folks... then hoooooooooo eeeeeeeee !

Makes sense to me. I have known a few people with bipolar and they are the same. Their emotions are so deep but if they are your friend they are truly your friend. Takes them a while to warm to you but when they do you have a friend for life.
Oh boy seafood boil, my idea of heaven.
Take care, huge hugs and much love
Roz.

My Gramps was a drinker. When I was young I learned to drink \"Boiler Makers\" (shot and a beer). By the time I graduated college and was on my way up someone suggested that I change to a more refined drink of choice. Well, I think I may have had two or three Boiler Makers and I told them in a very unproffessional like manner what they could do to themselves.
Do you know what I learned? I learned that these uppity snobs were just people. Some of them preferred a shot or a beer or both. Let me tell you it made for better and more \"normal\" cocktail parties. Oh there were some that stayed by themselves within their own little group...but can you imagine all the REAL conversations they missed? Real people talking about real things and laughing about real joys and commiserating and empathizing over real tragidies. Know what else I found there? I found people who wore sweats at home and rolled around on the grass with their kids and roller skated and ate hot dogs. We all had problems in our personal lives but we never labeled or diagnosed one another...you know why? We were friends and labels suck! People are people everyone goes through rough patches.... you can call it Psychosis or Bipolar or label it anything you want but inside is the person you are. Some are naturally caring, loving and warm. Some are fearful, untrusting and stand-offish. I think this is common for all people no matter how or what people choose to label them. So.... basically what I am saying is you take people the way you find them. If they are the trusting, warm, loving, kind, caring type you are naturally drawn to them and being a friend are willing to help them through the rough patches and celebrate the good patches....just as much as they are there for you.....it\'s just a natural human response. So being bi-polar is just a part of who you are...like being flat footed or wearing glasses or liking boiler makers rather than white wine. The person you are is the warm, kind, caring person that inspires trust, kindness, caring and warmth in return. I am really glad you are my friend....pass the shrimp please. Love Ya, Kathy

Elissa,
The most important part I took away from your journal is that I want me some seafood and Burp can I have a refill on my drink LOL. You crack me up and I thank you for that.
I am not Bipolar but I know what you mean about the brain going full speed ahead. Especially before my son died my mouth was not quick enough for my brain. Now I am more mellow and much slower. I am glad you are having a decent day. hugs, Inga
