Yesterday my son and I were talking... and he was talking about how science now has human beings defined down to the last neucleotide... and I explained to him that while science can break us down to DNA markers... nerve systems that if uncoiled and stretched end to end would wrap around the earth umpteen times... a series of synapses and chemical actions and reactions... etc etc etc... that still doesn't "define" the essence of who we are... I realized that when I was thinking one day... what if... I could clone Cara... extract the DNA from her bone marrow and be handed a perfect replica of Cara... so my mind drifted off into a magic place where I could have her back and everything would be as it was... but then I realized... Cara was much more than bone and flesh... she was also the interactions she had shared with everyone in this life... and I loved that Cara... not a mass of bones and flesh... and I too am a conglomerate of everyone I have ever interacted with in this life... and so indeed Cara is a part of me... for certainly I interacted with her for years... I am still interacting with her... if only in my heart and mind... I am so happy to have her a part of me... I think I will consider that knowing a Christmas gift to myself... and I hope anyone who reads this who is mourning a loved one's earthly loss will think about it and feel like perhaps they've gotten an extra Christmas gift too... It truly makes me happy to realize this and I'm hoping it will do the same for you... Hugs ElissaI had to come back and add something... Do you realize that in a way Cara is a part of you... Don't you see her in your heart and mind? I know I see so many of our children in my heart and mind... I picture them from the stories yall share and I smile... so they're a good part of me...

Yes, I feel the same way. Through this site and our interactions I have come to know so many of our children. It is a tie that binds us together. And I strongly feel like our children are all friends. I had thought about cloning Alicia too...but you are right...it wouldn\'t be the same as our children are the sum of their experiences beyond the physical body. May we all feel our precious children in our hearts this Christmas and that we celebrate their lives. And may we all feel their presence each and every day all year long...a Christmas present that lasts forever! Thank you Elissa for your beautiful journal this morning! Hugs! Lana
Elissa,
You are so right our body is just the shell. What is inside of the shell is what is forever. I think of all our children and I hope they have their own \"DS\" thing going on.Hugs, Inga
thats right... even though a clone would look like her it would never be here. Loved ones play such a big part in our lives and even if they cant still be with us their memory will always be there and they will be smiling down upon you. *hugs*
I really did ponder the cloning, but it wouldn\'t be him...not the same personality, quirks, experiences or history that we shared. You are so right that our children are now a part of each of us who we share them with...they live on. Love you.
THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT NO ONE COULD EVER BE THEM HUGS GOOD GIFT LOVE JODY
