This morning I tried a technique that really helped... Its not mine... its from that book "We Are Their Heaven" by Alison DuBois.... She says we should lie down... and close our eyes and picture a basket... really work to visualize that basket... the shape... the color(s) everthing.... and we should visualize putting our troubles one by one into that basket... This is akin to The Empty Chair which I have also used with fantastic results... Its going to sound weird... but some part of me has been lucky because I've had dreams and visitations all my life... Am I crazy... delusional... I honestly think so... Picture that your loved one is holding that basket... now that you've got the basket bring your eyes up to the face of your loved one... your loved one is smiling... just as we love them... they love us... and they want to help us... They know how things are going to go... and they know that eventually we will be with them... Anyway, back to putting your troubles in the basket... she gave a funny example of how some main was being a source of problems for her and she put him in the basket feet first and shoved him in until all that was showing was his bold head... and angry eyes through his glasses... I decided to try this, but Richard was in the bedroom so I didn't want to be around anyone while I did this... Ok so I sat in my chair... and I pictured first my husband, Cara's dad Woody and I tried to picture the basket but I never could get that basket clear... Maybe I messed it up because I pictured Woody first... It still worked pretty great... I turned to Woody because for years he took care of me... I leaned on him maybe more than I should... I really don't care... We had a lot of good years and I'm grateful for them then and I'm grateful for today... So I ended up talking to Woody... and my mama... I saw my daddy and remembered a special Christmas when I was down... and he didn't say a word... he just hugged me and it was just the right thing to do... we're all human... daddy made mistakes just like we all do... but that moment and today remembering is a gift... Cara kept saying what about me? and I told her that I wanted to save her for last because I had to say I missed her the most... that I had been able to accept the passing of so many family members but hers has been so hard... and so I needed the most time with her... I saw my mama standing... I hugged her... I saw my grandmas... and grandfathers... even Great Grandpa Sisk who passed when I was about 8... I saw his passing all those years ago in a dream... when my Grandma Sisk called to tell me, before she could tell me what happened I told her about my dream and then she told me that it was true and had happened just that way... I guess I had to share it with them all.... since my biggest trouble is missing them. I didn't put it in the basket... but I shared it... and I truly did feel and see and touch them... and it feels wonderful... I am so grateful for what I consider a Thanksgiving gift from my loved ones... Finally I looked only at Cara... I didn't want to see the photos I have on my profile... they're lovely photos... but I remember Cara laughing... and talking to me... and sometimes crying... and the relief in her voice when she could talk to me... and I saw her... and I held her... Yes I cried... but I'm going to cry at times... epected and accepted... but if I can cry from seeing and holding my child and my other loved ones who have passed... I can live with that... It too will become expected and accepted... and I feel better... My faith that they are with us is strengthened... and I'm not letting go... Try it... its not dumb I promise. I hope this will be my Thanksgiving Gift to you... from me and mine.
