So I read an article about depression in the AARP magazine... First of all I'm depressed to think I'm old enough to be reading the AARP magazine...  anyhoo... it said that a lot of why people are depressed these days is that man wasn't meant to live such isolated sedentary lives... i.e. get off your butts... get out from behind your computers and go out and socialize... do the old fashioned picnics... and dance a jig... you know... move and be with people... but we don't do that anymore... so who will we find to socialize with... The main places people socialize anymore... are like bars and casinos... and they just want your money... restaraunts.... they want your money... the movies... have you priced the snacks... tell me they don't want your money... sporting events... oh wow... Hamburgers.... crappy tasting.... no lettuce or tomatoes... forget that! price... $6 Honey they want your money and they're not bashful about it... So that's why I don't like to go anywhere... and everybody else really they just want money... and to be honest... that includes my church...  I get tired of it...  Ah well... did I mention I'm in a mood...  <>

AARP, yep, we get that here too...that\'s enough to depress a girl...I get in a mood from time to time myself so I can relate. Actually I find that I often prefer isolation in my grief, time for contemplation and time to spend with my son...but grief is isolating in and of itself. Those who have their children and have intact families cannot relate to my life as it is now, though some do their best to empathize. In a crowded room I still am often alone...even while conversing. Yes I can talk about the weather or whatever but that\'s not what is really on my mind, or certainly not the foremost. It is all so complicated. (((love & hugs)))

I keep getting stuff in the mail from AARP and I guess I am old enough according to them but I am still offended(lol). You are right the extended family is gone and so is much of the socialization. As humans we are meant to socialize and we sit in front of computers...
Nothing is free anymore and you are right everybody wan\'t our hard earned money.Ok, now I am really depressed.Hugs, Inga

My pastor asked me one time why I didn\'t use my envelopes...I asked him Did he think I was a Pharasee? If I have #1 I will put it in...if I have $10 I\'ll put it in but my real value will never be monetary. My value is in serving the people of this parish and if I can do that then we can both be happy. He never asked again. I do sick calls...I serve Communion on Sunday and Holydays, I visit the shut-ins and I collect and take books to the Senior Citizen meetings. I am involved in the Bereevement Council and I work with the teenagers, I help plan funerals and often give the eulogy. I can and am an adult server at these masses. I visit the retired nuns periodically and take them books or candy. Somehow I think that is what Christ wanted....not the little bit of money I get for disability. So there Hmph!
I agree about depression....it is boredom turned inward....not being able to be with or to do the things you want to do and being alone to boot. Then all kinds of things go off in your mind.
Syb is so right...you can be smiling and looking directly into someones eyes and talking about corn but your mind is on the person you want to be with and fantacies of what you\'d be doing...then feeling lost because reality says the dream is gone.

Even today I want to get into something...something devilish....then I realize Pat isn\'t here to get into trouble with me. That is frustrating. Now Kimmie Dee and Lisa are devilish and I know we could do some mean cow tipping. I would love to do something in the cornfield behind Kattie\'s place...I don\'t know what...maybe plant four or five yellow rose bushes..imagine her surprise while counting the corn rows. HMMMMM. I could be in a mood but I\'m really enjoying my Hershey Hugs so I truly hope you evening brightens a little. Love Ya, Kathy
