So... I've been thinking... I really appreciate the offers of help... and I'm taking you up on them...  could we somehow form a group... Parents Unite For Children or something like that... Dedicate ourselves to making a posting... say once a month... about issues... about resources...  each month one mother could volunteer to put these issues into a letter for a mass mailing... title maybe..  What's On Our Minds... send it to all the reps, sentators, congressmen etc etc etc... Katmac... you have computer skills I think??? could you tell us how to create a mass mailing list....  Just think...  Katmac you are extremely well read and up on issues and I'd be very grateful for your help...  Please...Whoever was in charge of that months letter could forward it to all of us who want to participate... we could "sign" it and forward it back to her... or him.  I'm going to say it bluntly... Addiction and Mental Illness aren't the only problems our children are facing...  and sometimes issues that may seem like they are not a children's issue really are... an example is health insurance... We need it for our children and in many states if our income is below a certain level we can get it... Often though its not available for adults... unless you're below the poverty level.... and we need to take care of ourselves too so that we can take care of our children... I will tell you all something that you really already know... Cara didn't stop being my "child" when she reached 18 or 21 or whatever the magic age is supposed to be... She was and is my baby always...  and so I guess what I'm trying to say... adults... they are somebody's baby... somebody's child... and so issues that affect  adults... do affect somebody's baby... somebody's child...  We can't take on the whole world at one time... but we could share concerns with each other and through a united effort share them with our lawmakers etc....  Again yall... you know me... Just some thoughts... I'm not sure what's feasible what isn't... but here are some ideas...  I know there are some awesome powerful minds here so what do you all think...    Hugs ElissaSo I had messaged a friend and was doing my best to explain my thoughts... and then I was thinking about messaging my friends... but then I decided here is the best place to put it... so that no one feels pressured... My ideas are really very iffy... but I honestly think it could happen... Any 1 of us doesn't have much effect but if a great number of us would work together... we'd be a bigger group than the AARP... one of the biggest lobbying groups in our country today...  So with no hope of financial or personal reward... with only the hopes of our hearts... I think we might make a difference... Tell me please what you think...  Hugs Elissa

I\'m concerned about what lorab tells me about the health care system in Canada... I\'ve heard other people say its not so hot... so if we start asking our lawmakers to help make universal health care available... how are we going to suggest the problems other countries are having be avoided...
Richard is going to get me the listing for our state and federal reps, senators, congressmen etc... We are going to need lists for each state and a rep in the group for each state... I guess we can decide who will write the first letter and that person can post it in their journal... haven\'t figured out how we all sign it... but I\'m thinking... don\'t yall smell the burning... *smile*
