I'm gonna cry for my mama tonightI wish she were holding me tightI wish she could rock me to sleepI'll think of my mama and weep... Yeah sometimes I feel like that... I wish I could be about 3 or 4 years old and have almost 50 years with my mama to look forward to... Today is my mama's birthday... She would be 72... She died last year... April 22, 2006... She'd have been 71 last year on August 4th... If she were here she'd fuss and say goodness Elissa isn't 70 old enough already... I see my mama in my mind's eye... so many different pictures come to mind... I remember crying for her as she walked away leaving me in the hospital crib before my surgery... I remember her tears... We cried together and she held me and rocked me and promised it would be ok... and it was... Mama made it ok.. I remember when I was around 4... Our house caught on fire... and I was scared... I hid behind the headboard of the bed in my room... Mama came in after me... People tried to hold her back... fat chance... I remember her grabbing my hand... I was so glad to see her... she grabbed my hand and we were running out of the room... Suddenly by the door I saw my little piano... and I tried to grab it to bring with us... Mama probably wanted to beat me... She was so scared... but determined to get me out of there and here I was worrying about a damn toy piano... I remember her grabbing me and pulling me up into her arms and then we were out of the room and hurrying across the front room to the front door... flames all around... Once outside someone gave my mama something to wrap around her... The skirt of her dress had been burned away... We shared a lot mama and I... I guess some folks would say mama was weak... that she should never have let us see her cry... Just like we needed mama... Mama needed us... and we shared it all.. the good and the bad... That's family... mama taught me what love is... what family should be... by example... You keep loving no matter what... Mama was like that... she loved no matter what... and actually... she treated most people like that... loving... accepting... being there... the world could be her family if they wanted... she was like that... Mama was always there for me... and I'm one of the luckiest people on earth to have had my mama... I miss her... but its ok... I may cry my eyes out today... but its ok... My mama was worth every tear I'll ever cry and then some...So this is my gift mama... Just one more time to say I love you and I miss you... and its ok... Those of you... You know I'm thinking of you kaydeedid... sarahsmonkey... Betty... and so many more... I know you may read this and you may cry... Its ok... We are so lucky... Love You Elissa

Elissa- what can I say? There isn\'t enough words to describe a mama. I pray that my daughter feels the same way about me that you feel about your mama. I pray that if she doesn\'t remember anything about me, she\'ll remember how much I love her, value her and stayed as close to her as I could have possibley been. I hope that she knows all of the times that I never left her hospital bed, how I layed my head down on her bed and prayed until there wasn\'t anything else left in me to do, How I loved her so much that it hurt. How I never gave up when everyone else did, how many times I would get up in the middle of the night to check on her and make sure she was still breathing. How everything that I cooked for her I sprinkled with love. I hope that above all else she knows what a blessing she has been in my life and that I will always love her with my very being. I pray that I have been a mama that makes gods himself proud. I Pray that everyday of my life I will never forget to thank god for giving me my most precious gift, my daughter.
I am glad you have those special memories that kinda make everything ok. Your mama was some special lady and yes you were so lucky to have had her.
YOU JUST DESCRIBED MY MAMA AND WHEN I WAS 4 I WAS BEING BABYSAT BY MY AUNT, SHE WAS COOKING FRENCH FRIES IN A PAN OF GREESAE AND FORGOT THE GREASE WHILE LOOKING AT THE MAIL. I WENT INTO THE KITCHEN AND IT WAS ON FIRE, I HID BEHIND THE OPEN BACK DOOR WHEN I TRIED TO GET OUT THE LOCKED SCREEN DOOR. MY AUNT FOUND ME AND GOT ME OUT, THE FIREMEN WERE ALREADY THERE, I REMEMBER SITTING ON THE GROUND AND MY MAMA\'S CAR COMING RIPPING DOWN THE ROAD AND HER RUNNING UP SCREAMING MY NAME \"KIMMIE DEE!\" \"KIMBERLEY DEE WHERE ARE YOU???\" SHE COULDN\'T SEE ME BECAUSE OF ALL THE PEOPLE AND FIRE TRUCKS SHE SCREAMED A BLOOD CURDLING SCREAM \"WHERE IS SHE, WHERE IS MY BABY??!!!! AND THEN THERE SHE WAS SCOOPING ME UP, SCREAMING \"OH GOD! OH GOD THANKYOU!!!\" BEFORE I WAS BORN MY COUSIN BILLY CRAWLED ON THE STOVE IN HIS PAJAMAS AND CAUGHT ON FIRE AND DIED SEVERAL DAYS LATER, HE WAS 3. MAMA LOVED BILLY SPECIAL AND IT BROKE HER HEART, SHE WAS 13 WHEN BILLY DIED.....SO MAMA COULD GET REAL NASTY IF WE GOT AROUND HER WHEN SHE WAS COOKING... I THOUGHT SHE WOULD KILL AUNT TERRY WHEN MAMA FOUND OUT AUNT TERRY FOUND ME IN THE KITCHEN ALONE AND GOT ME OUT, BUT ALL WAS WELL.... I HAD NOT THOUGHT OF THAT DAY FOR A LONG TIME ANOTHER MEMORY HIDDEN IN THE SHADOWS OF THE MEMORY OF WATCHING HER DIE... THANKYOU ELISSA FOR THINKIN OF MAMA AND I WHEN YOU WROTE THIS, LITTLE DID YOU KNOW I HAD A FIRE STORY OF MY OWN.. I AM CRYING WITH YOU TODAY REMEMBERING MAMA\'S LAST DAY ON EARTH 1 YEAR AGO TOMORROW, THIS DAY LAST YEAR WAS HER LAST DAY WITH ME.... OH HOW I MISS HER........ (CRYING HUGE TEARS)OK MOVING ON TO (SOBBING) NOW... HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO FIND MY PLACE IN THIS WORLD WITHOUT MY MAMA HERE??? I FEEL SO SMALL AND LOST.... LOVE YOU ELISSA THANKYOU AND MAY YOU HAVE MANY WONDERFUL HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEMORIES TODAY.... *K
I do feel for all of you being in this world without your Mom. A Mother holds a special place in your life and it\'s one that especially a daughter just can\'t descibe unless you yourself have lived it. I still have my Mom but I don\'t have my Dad. I am very close to both. My Dad was my protector, my rock. I do feel lost without him and almost like a puppy out in the woods with nobody to fight off the predators. I am not in your place yet, meaning I still have my Mom here in my life on earth. I can relate somewhat to you as I have lost one parent but I think it\'s different in a way to loose a Father than a Mother. But I wanted you all to know that I am right there with you as far as broken hearts and I feel so much for all of you. My heart breaks for you. I know without a doubt our parents are still with us and they share all of our joys, sorrows and they come to us anytime we need them. So if you need your Mom\'s ask them to come to you and help you. I do. I ask that of my Dad alot. I just can\'t do this by myself, there\'s no way on God\'s green earth that I can go through missing him by myself. Thank you Elissa for helping all of us with our painful memories. You show all of us how to cope by sharing your pain , your such an inspiration and a source of healing to me. I\'m so thankful I met you and I will always keep in touch with you. I have to put it that way. :0)
THANKYOU TRUDY THAT WAS VERY NICE OF YOU.....
My mom is my best friend. I love as much as a person can love. I\'m afraid the loss of my son will take the life right out of her and she\'ll be just as gone as Jeff is. I\'m going to call her right now. Thank you, I love you, Colleen
Hello. Those are some good memories. I love my mom to death now. She\'s one who truly loves me and accepts me unconditionally. But not too many memories that were good as a child. She was married to a murderer at 14, and had my brother at 14, then by 18 she had 3 of us. I can kind of understand, when I look at my 18 yr old kids, and realize they couldn\'t possibly be good parents to 3 babies right now. But it still hurts. Im glad u have happy memories to think of. Love ya, Nichole
And Elissa\'s magically beautiful way with words continues... Happy birthday to your Angel Momma, dear friend. xoxo
Elissa, your mom smile upon you today and everyday. She and Cara are making their own memories now, so they will have stories to tell you when you get to them. Happy Birthday to your momma. Lots of hugs, Jake\'s mom, Kathy
