I know you miss your children's earthly presence... and many of our journals express such pain and longing I wanted to take this from an earlier journal and put it here... I have a copy on my refrigerator and read it often... As do many of you... I miss not only my child... but my mother too... and so I read this two ways... I change the my child and I to my mother and I... for the cord... is attached at both ends... heart to heart... and at the end... I read it... mother and child... and child and mother... death can not take it away... So I hope it will comfort you as it comforts me... We've lost plenty... but there is a lot we haven't lost... this cord is eternal... I thank you all for your many kind, comforting and loving comments... Hugs Elissa

THE CORD

We are connected my child and I,
by an invisible cord not seen by the eye

Not like the cord that connects untill birth
This cord can't be seen by any on earth

This cord does its work right from the start
It binds us together attached to our hearts

I know its there though no one can see
The invisible cord from my child to me

The strength of this cord Is hard to describe
It can't be destroyed It can't be denied

Its stronger than any cord man could create
It withstands all tests - can hold any weight

And though you are gone though you are not here with me
The cord is still here though no one can see

It pulls at my heart I am bruised, I am sore
But this cord is my lifeline as never before

I am thankful that God connects us this way
Mother and child death can't take it away!

A note about Mother's Day weekend... Ben and the kids came... It was great to see them... They like most kids were alternately happy or at least not unhappy... and sulky... Its normal... Seems to me thats how kids often are and never more than the approaching and during the dreaded teen years.... oh my twilight zone.... Poor Elizabeth was sulking... so I sang poop scooping boogie for her... and the outhouse song... she finally smiled to get me to shut up... I tortured her for a bit longer... told her if she didn't keep smiling I was going to go to her school and announce over the loudspeaker that I was her grandmother and sing those songs for her friends.... we all laughed... its really good to be crazy and not care what people think isn't it... Hope yall had a great weekend...

Holy shit...am laughing my ass off...I read this out loud to Christina...she says \"Oh, thank God my grandma isn\'t like that...wait a minute, my MOM IS!!!!\"
This is the kind of things I \"threaten\" her with...it makes her laugh and me too...but like Elizabeth, I think she laughs just to make me quit...but it doesn\'t always work!hahahahaha
Thanks Elissa, you made me happy this morning! Love Kat
