Everything in life is exactly as it should be... that's a prevailing school of thought... so why do we mourn anything... its supposed to be that way... and that is true... because all the things that preceded today... have dictated that today will be like this or that... all our decisions... both good and bad... all the decisions made long before we were born both good and bad have led to this day and whatever is happening right now... People tell us all the time... life is unfair... yep... so get over it...

Sometimes... maybe if we learn from yesterday we can change tomorrow... Unfortunately I do believe I passed my lack of self confidence and my lack of coping skills down to my children... When I finally did start getting help I was strong enough to participate in helping myself... otherwise it would never have happened... but my daughter was not... I know I did the best I could at the time... but I do believe that everything we do is exactly like a rock thrown into the water...

I'm just one woman... and we don't have to think alike... be rather boring if everyone thought alike... Our model might be someone like Hitler... and I don't think I want to be like him at all...

I desperately do not want to offend anyone... I value your friendship and feel that its worth more than differing opinions on any matter... Fact is there is truth probably in all our points of view... Right now I'm trying to face having to face the job search again... There are many pros and cons... and I have to deal with them...

One of my biggest stumbling blocks is how badly I hate asking for help... but I don't have a choice... so I'll do what I have to do... Don't have the guts or lack of conscience to take what I need... so I'll need to do it the old fashioned way... I'll have to earn it... and that's ok... It is just going to take some real soul searching... I haven't found standing in front of the mirror and telling myself what a wonderful and unique person I am to be too effective...

I could talk for hours but I've got some things I need to do... A friend of mine is dying... My children used to play with her children and we were great friends... Geri was my hero... She like me was a big woman... Unlike me... she was like a queen... She had presence... and oh how I admired her... Then about 10 years ago we drifted apart... the last time I had seen her was at a friend's wedding... She looked pretty good, but Geri had cancer and I was very afraid... (I read this last line and I could kick myself... I was afraid? What the hell was she feeling...) She moved and I didn't know how to get in contact with her... and then I moved... and I didn't hear much about how she was for years... and then... I was afraid to ask... I thought she must have died... but when Cara died Geri contacted me... and I was so glad to hear from her... Now Geri is in a nursing home... under hospice care and it won't be long before she will join my loved ones and her own... I hope her and mama and Cara and Yancey and Woody... and all our friends get together and have a kick ass game of pedro... Boiled crabs and crawfish, gumbo, and red fish that Yancey is going to catch and fillet... what Yancy could do with a fillet knife is pure art... I am going to go see her tomorrow... My heart is heavy... but I have to go... I want to go... I pray that I can comfort her children... My heart aches for them... almost as if they were my own... so your prayers and advice would be very welcome... Thank You Elissa

Ok Ok... a friend's journal entry reminded me of this joke... so I wrote it down in her journal comments... and then I thought... I really want to share this... and even though this may make some of yall think I'm definitely loony tunes... I mean how can you write something funny after just writing about your friend... because Geri would love the joke... I may even have told it to her as I heard it years ago... and that's life... rain and sunshine... tears and smiles... but for me... they'll just say she's having a mood swing... and..... Tara just thinks she started the So What movement... that was Geri's whole attitude... and I thought and think she is fantastic!

A bird was flying south for the winter... He'd left kind of late and it was terribly cold... ohhhhhhh it was soooooo cold... The birds wings were heavy with ice... finally... he could fly no more... poor little bird slowly began to fly lower and lower... he landed in a pasture... The poor little bird was freezing to death... and then the cows were let out to pasture... one cow walked right over the bird... and as she passed... she dropped a large splat of cow poop... right on that poor little bird... ugh..... but wait... the poop... it was warm... ahhhh the bird began to thaw... he wiggled mightily as his now warm wings could move... the day was warming up... oh he felt so much better... he began to sing..... oh he sang so beautifully... Then... oh dear... the barnyard cat heard that little bird... with one swat of her clawed paw she pulled that bird off that splat... and ate him... oh..... how sad... There's a moral to this story... When you're up to your neck in poop... oh my goodness... that's no time to sing... Hugs Elissa

Elissa: That joke actually came to me from a friend who got it from her priest! I love it and it\'s one of those that makes me laugh every time I hear it. But we are going to SING this weekend when we light all those candles for our kids!
