Today I'm feeling a bit better... slept from 1:30am till 6am... that's a lot better than the 2 to 3 hours I've been sleeping... and I did it without meds... I woke up but forced myself to go back to bed and after 20 or 30 minutes more or less I went back to sleep... So that's a start...

I wrote to my son today. I am writing a bit often at his email address... I hope he doesn't get sick of it... But today I wanted to share the day's griefshare message... as an apology for being so pushy... Anyway the message was timely and apt for me and hoped maybe it would help some of you who might be having some of the same problems I am. Hugs to all of you. Elissa

Okay so today's griefshare message... maybe it will help me and you. I'm going to try to make it so.

Which of these sentences best describes you? Your spouse? Siblings? Children?
A. I like to open up and share deep-felt emotions as often as possible.
B. I can think of a million things I'd rather do than bring up the pain again by talking about it.

Every person has his or her own way of reacting to grief, and men and women often respond differently.

"My son still has a hard time just talking about it," says me, who lost her daughter. "I think his way of dealing with it is to dive into work, to avoid it, to not talk about it. Many times it causes problems between us because I want to talk about it. For me, it's like he's not going to be okay unless he opens up. (I really know I'm wrong, but as usual I can't keep my big mouth shut). For him, I think, it's as if I'm opening up his wounds by wanting him to share it with me."

You cannot change another person to grieve in a way that pleases you, but you can give your concerns about that person to God and pray that he or she will someday open up and release those crippling emotions.

Lord God, it's so important that I share my emotions with others. Only You can soften a heart that is hardened. Lord, the heart I'm talking about is my own... I would like to close my mouth and not keep digging. I can only say I truly believe I am simply trying to help my son, but I need to let him do this his own way. Once again, I give it to You. Amen.

It\'s hard I know. Men grieve so differently than we do. I think your on the right path by turning your worries over to God though. I\'m here for you Elissa as always. I love you :0)
