We have been caregivers for 4 years now and at times it really gets you depressed. We had big plans to go on vacations and go camping when I retired but havent been able to do that because we have no one to stay with my mother. We have our good times though and at times we have sad times. I don't want to complain because I think we are doing what we are supposed to do.

We got out 6 year old grand daughter about 6 months ago so we are taking care of her now. We really have our hands full now. Her dad works on a boat and comes in for two weeks and is gone usually two months so when he is here we get some relief. My brother was coming to help with my mother every other week for three days when he could but hasn\'t been able to in about 6 weeks now.

It\'s not easy doing the right thing, but I admire your compassion and your committment to your mother. We all hope that we will never have to be a burden on our children but sometimes life just does not work out the way that we plan. As for taking care of the grandchildren, I imagine it is not what you expected but that it has its joys. Have a good weekend.
