so sad

Hello everyone
Back in 2013 I got a divorce. After putting up with my husbands abuse and affairs I had had enough. While I was going through my divorce I met a man on this site.  We started conversing and got along very well.  My divorce was final but his was not but we kept chatting. We shared quite a bit and he would call me to get advice about his soon to be X who was still living in their home.  It seemed we agreed on a lot of issues and seemed to have a lot in common.
My X was having a hard time and homeless so he asked if he could move in with me for a while.  Big mistake.  Even though I was only trying to help him out he had other ideas.  I continued to chat with my friend and was very honest with him about my situation. He knew I had let my X move back in and he was very understanding.  He said he would of done the same for his X if she was in trouble.
He invited me to visit him in "FL".  I was so excited and was so happy that I could finally meet the person I had been sharing my life with and I could finally talk to him face to face.  The day came, I finally met him.  I honestly didn't care what he looked like I've never been one for looks but I certainly was not disappointed. I think he was a little uncomfortable because of his weight but I didn't mind.  I was only with him for three days and it was different.  I didn't really know what to do especially just coming out of a 30 year relationship/marriage and I don't think he did either.  I could tell he was not used to affection and he certainly was not the needy type.  We went to the movies, for a drive and out to eat.  It was time for me to leave. I didn't want to come back because I knew what I had to face. As I drove home he asked me a lot of questions but I kept my personal life private and didn't tell him because it was none of his business and I didn't want to tell him the truth or hurt him as he had me. I was in love with the man in "FL" and I wanted so much for the relationship to grow. The way I saw it was the only problem was the long distance.
I made it home and couldn't wait to get out of the car.  I went into the den where I was sleeping to unpack my belongings. My X started mowing the yard, which he never did normally.  Next thing I know my daughter is answering the doorbell.  A lady was telling my daughter that a man was passed out on my lawn.  It was my X.  My daughter helped me get him into the car so we could take him to the hospital.  He ended up in ICU because he was suicidal then he was transferred to the psych ward.  I had told the social worker that he was supposed to be moving out.  She said he was in no shape to be moving anywhere.  So I found myself stuck.  Mean while I was dealing with my middle daughters disappearance, she was 18 at the time ( a few months later I found her in Arkansas).  So at the time I was dealing with my X, worried about my daughter missing, school, and fulltime work and my youngest graduating.
At this time I realized that there was no way I wanted or could bring "FL" into my mess. I had nothing to offer him where as he made six figures a year and had a beautiful home in Florida with a pool in the back yard; even though I worked, I didn't even have a home, I was renting. I was dealing with an X who was threatening to commit  suicide and I had a feeling it would just get worse. I went into a major depression to the point I got up, went to work, came home, did school work, went to bed.
I really couldn't tell how "FL" felt about me, but I soon stopped chatting with him.  I regret it to this day because I still think of him every day.  I sent him an e-card but I don't even know if I have his correct e-mail anymore and he has not read it yet.
I just want to know he is doing ok but most of all I miss my friend.
Could someone help or do you have any advice?
