Hmmm

Is it wrong for me to be upset that my boyfriend of a year + hasn't invited me to his going-away party? He's leaving for college in a week, exactly, and I start school again in five days. I've dated this kid for a fairly long time and I've been invited to a get-together of his friends once. I don't feel appreciated. He's told me about this party he's having, but has neglected to invite me. What gives?
It is true, yes, that I am afraid to meet new people (that comes from my inability to make small talk), and it is true that some (if not most) of his friends intimidate me. They're smarter, funnier, more self-assured than I. His best friend especially intimidates me. He saw me as an insecure, stupid fifteen-year-old girl in an AP class I had no business being in while he was an eighteen-year-old genius. So in my mind he's always been infinitely smarter and cooler and more confident, the list goes on, than I. I've always felt that he knew how much I struggled in the class, I thought he knew I went home and cried every day because I was failing. In truth, I know he probably knew none of this, but I still feel like the insecure little girl I was around him three years ago. So I'm afraid of him.
My boyfriend knows this. He knows how much I hate to meet new people, but the least he could do is invite me, right? He's going away, for god's sake. I'd like to say a proper goodbye to him.
