Something i just learned that i wish i had know: For some back pain issues it is better to walk at an incline. I wish i had known this because i could have adjusted my treadmill to incline for walking up a hill. My husband put my treadmill in storage to make room for the recumbent bike and I am doing well with the bike.
It has been about four maybe five years now since my tbi, and around 2 years since my hysterectomy. It was after my hysterectomy that i began to have sciatic nerve problems that are painfully debilitating. This evil pain makes having had brain surgery seem like it was a cake walk compared to the past two years of pain in my back and legs.
I have been fortunate to finally receive physically therapy that helped reduce the pain and has made it were at times i can excersize the pain to a lower level. I do not know if i will ever we totally pain free; that was my hope and goal; but as live continues it seems less and less likely.
I have made progress in the areas that were effected by the avm but not enough to function on my own. My biggest struggle is not being able to see well enough to drive. (most of the time I am okay about not being able to drive; I have come to acceptance; But this summer I have struggled because i have not had much hlep getting out. There are two aspect to my sight: My loss of sight is neurological; my eyes work fine but apart of my occipital in my brain is damaged from the avm (blood vessel breaking in my brain). One i am totally blind in the right sides of my eye sight, and then there is the attention aspect of my sight . Objects move, disappear, jitter around.
I have learned to look around the blind area and try to calm the jitter by telling it to be still. I can then read for 30 min to an hour before my brain becomes too tired and the words just go fuzzy, blurred and jitter around the page.
Depth perception is off but not as pronounce as it was at the onset of the avm.
Short term memory issues are just that. I can not cook without supervision. I am able to use the microwave.
I can never aspire to my old dreams. And what kind of dreams do i want now that would count to the core of my heart. I am searching.

I may have muscle tone issues which may be related to the tbi or it could be because of my hip causing everything to go out of alignment . I had traction to pull the hips back into place. Staying active and working on staying strong is important.
I didn\'t know that about the incline thing for back issues. I\'m going to pass that info on.
You have done a wonderful job of coping and working around your limitations. You continue to be an inspiration to me.
