Today is my birthday - I'm 55.  The scale says 239 this morning.  I have been swinging 3 pounds north or south of 245 for a long time, but the pendulum is swinging lower now.  I think I've actually lost a couple of pounds.  I think that one of the things that's helping in that direction is that I've been recording everything I eat in my Fit Day program.  This is a really need program that give you all your nutritional statistics and averages, etc.  I haven't been "dieting" per se - just assessing what I eat and observing the trends.  This helps to curb a lot of compulsive snacking, 'cause I'll catch myself mid bite and think "oh no - I'm going to have to record this".   I managed to do this every day for a week and so I got averages.  I even recorded a trip to Wendy's and french fries, a baconator, and a soda.  Yikes the stats on that were mind boggling!  But in spite of this, I am averaging around 1600 calories a day - which means I should lose weight as that's not enough to maintain my size.  The thing that is out of whack is my fat intake.  It's way too high in proportion to the rest of my nutrients.  I was really amazed at that - Baconator aside - I'm eating too much fat even when I think I'm eating good.  But on the other hand, my diet is rather healthy.  Looking at vitamins and other nutrients, I'm doing close to 100% RDA on most.My pain level is through the roof today.  It was bad yesterday too.  It's the dang humidity - we are back into pea soup after getting spoiled with a week of really nice weather.  It's only 70 today, but it feels a lot hotter with the humidity at 88%.  I'm glad it's overcast because the glare from the haze hurts my eyes.  We are having a quiet celebration at home tonight.  My husband said that the tourist crowding and traffic mayhem is the worst he's seen in the 20 years he's lived here.  Anyone out there thinking that Cape Cod would be a nice summer get-away vacation - please think again.  Getting stuck in traffic gridlock and waiting in long lines everywhere is not my idea of fun.  I went to the grocery store the other day just to pick up a couple of things and I had to search and search the furthermost outreaches of the huge parking lot to find a space.  Anyway - I'm longing for September already.
