So far so good but the craving today was BAD. I work night shift so headed to work in a few minutes. I'm almost afraid to go in because of this big first day - I'm not sure. Perhaps it's that drinking was such a large part of my life that I"m starting to grieve it.

I made it. 24 hours without drinking. No Irish coffee or cocktail to \"help\" me go to sleep. I think since I work the night shift and sleep during the day, I let myself think if I was buzzed I would sleep better. And, unfortunately I did. This morning instead of drinking I took a 3mg melatonin and it worked like a charm. So, one day over. Here goes another day.
Hey there! Welcome to DS! This is a great site and there is much support and encouragement here. Glad you made it the first 24 hours. Stay strong and remember we are all in this together so reach out for help if you need it.

OK here goes my 2nd night of going into work without drinking before laying down to get ready to do so. This afternoon I cleaned up the kitchen, cleaned up my bedroom, kitty toys and boxes and unpacked a few more things from my recent move. I\'ve got laundry going now and getting ready to get in the shower. Next to pack a lunch for myself. A good second day. Still scared silly but onward.
I felt the exact same way the first week I quit. I felt like I was letting go of one of my best friends (sad but true!) as I had alcohol in my life for 27 years. However, after the first week it got so GOOD. I feel better, my mind is clearer and my moods are leveling off. I too am going through a separation so I know it\'s hard. But you will see - stick in there and you will experience for yourself how happy and good life can be without the bottle:)))
Awesome job on day 2!!
