I am now really scared from some of the things i have read on here. They have taken my son off all his meds(his request) because you can not get a job if you are on antipsychotics. If he gets sick and dillusional at any point in the next 10 years will they decide he will be one that should not be released. When he gets off his meds and gets dillusional he is so much to handle. Even if he does get out in the 10 years..what if SC does not let him move to NC(which was listed as his home address) He is gonna have to wear a gps which they charge for and probation fees and I also am scared because i could die before he gets out. I am so mad at him because he has hurt and changed so many lives by this but at the same time i still jump for my cell phone when it rings thinking it is him. I miss him so much

Another place you might find support is through a local NAMI group. NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness www.nami.org. There are lots of people here with family members with mental health issues like your son\'s. I would suggest you at least give someone a call in your local area, it may be even be a psychiatrist who may be able to assist you in some way as you navigate the system. Good Luck! You and your son are in my prayers ... D
I understand your pain and anger, I too get scared that I might die before I can see my son free. One thing I have learned is that love transcends all other emotions. So let the love flow. it will help with the times when you feel like an 18-wheeler just ran over you while you were sleeping. I agree with D, get in touch with NAMI, they are there to help YOU through the hoops that are put up against your son. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I am so sorry to hear this news. My son has depression and ADHD, but he won\'t tell anyone because of the stigma that the other prisoners put on those on meds. It is not fair!
