7/25/2015 OMG. My Counselor Was Right.

I opened a friggin' can of worms by telling my mother about my Asperger's. I can't change that I learned after the fact that I should not have told my mother until after I did tell my mother.
I hope that sentence makes sense.
Now, she's trying to fix me, just like my sister tried to "Fix me with her love". I told my sister off, now I must tell my mother to back off.
She's only being a mother, just what a mother is supposed to do. I don't need cheer-me-up cards in the mail or her commenting on every "Facebook thing" I do.
My next session with my counselor must be how to reconcile this conundrum: I love my mother, she's my mother. I do not like her as a person.
Stupid place for my head & emotions to be in. All I can do right now is cry. I'm so confused. My IQ is in the 140's & I feel so dumb. I know normal brain wiring people exist in society with certain unspoken rules, yet I cannot fully comprehend these unspoken rules. This is the biggest conundrum of my Asperger's & the biggest thing I've always struggled with, decades before I learned my Worldview has a Name.

Take a deep breath. You can and will handle this. You needed to tell your family what was going on with you. I can empathize with you that they are going a bit overboard in their attentions. Maybe given a bit of time their reactions will calm down. If not then I\'m sure you will come up with the right words at the right time to tell them you are still you and don\'t need to be coddled. Love you

Sounds like your mother has more \"issues\" than you do.

Because, well it\'s great that she wants to \"fix\" her kid. Hey I\'d love to have perfect kids too. But most parents get over the fact that their kids aren\'t going to be perfect by the time their kid is two.

It\'s also possible that mom feels like she\'s failed you.

My best advice to give you is to say this to her: \"Mom, I\'m okay that I\'m a less than perfect human. Now I need you to be okay with that too.\"
