Yesterday was a day of miracles! I was driving home from some meetings and was on my way to pick up a movie ticket for this weekend. On a whim, I decided to risk calling my daughter thinking she would not pick up and I would leave her a short voicemail message. Well, she did pick up! Instead of the cold greeting I expected, she was sweet. I asked if she might have inclination to join me for a movie on Sunday--we have both been looking forward to seeing it together--and she said YES!!! I then asked if she would like to have dinner after, and she said yes! We now are getting together tomorrow and I am very excited. I think that she is doing better in her job search and perhaps that helped but I think she really misses me, her home, her dog. And the family that she's been staying with have been very supportive and sympathetic. I feel very blessed. I know that DS has been my lifeboat since being cast adrift in the estrangement. I pray that a reunion with my daughter and best friend will be a new beginning for us. I realize that I have been too clingy and have not transitioned from treating my daughter as my child and not as an adult. A lot of that has to do with past abandonment issues which I deal by being controlling. I look forward to dialog with my daughter to learn how we transition into a new way of relating to and supporting each other. I thank those of you who have reached out with messages of support, sharing your strength, and your wisdom. Hugs to all of you
