My Story
So Sorry I never finished this up! Diagnosed Sept of 09 with Colon Rectal and mine was extremely low Rectal! Three different doctors said it was almost as low as they had seen, so my chances of keeping my spinctor was out of the question.
I am older and I do feel Chemos' and radiation hurt or effect us more. I went through the 5FU and Radiation for 6 weeks. My last two weeks I did not feel I would survive it. It was extreme fatigue. No more than 6 steps or so and I would fall, then a reaction where they had to rest and treat me for Uncontroable body functions.
I know we are all different because I hear how some can just get right through their treatments. (I did not know how anyone could live like that? They had to put me in the hospital twice and the last time I demanded all treatment be stopped. (I could not go on like that) Of course they said they would but I only had 5 treatments left.
I did not care I wanted it all to stop 'NOW' until they explained my symptoms would still last another 2 months and maybe more. So I finished but my symptoms lasted about 3 mybe 4 months.
Then the eight hour surgery where my surgeon said he got it all (the radiation had already killed it) I had all clean and clear margins. During my surgery recovery I finally began to feel great!
But the Oncology office kept calling and wanting me in and my surgeon saying I was not ready and really saw NO reason for the Mop-Up.
But I still took some treatments of Oxi and 5FU. Right back to being sicker than my pre-op treatments.
It is a long story and maybe as I am on the board and posting I can give you other details.
I am happy to be here and will do my best to give any information I have discovered over the nearly 2 years to any of you interested in yet another Cancer story.
