Doing Better
I haven't been here in such a long time. Things seem to be going better. My husband is still working. I left my very stressful job for the older woman I worked for, to go work for my Mom. Different stress, but not as bad :)
The horrible empty nest feeling I had is so much better. I'm not really sure what changed. Maybe it's just getting accustomed to a new routine. I kind of enjoy my time being alone and doing what I want to do when I want to do it. My husband and I are actually getting along better. The first year I was just so angry and took everything out on him.
I still talk to my daughter almost everyday either through text or FB and she comes home about once a month. I always miss her when leaves and the house is quiet again, but it's not as bad.
I'm taking a new anti-depressant (effexor xr) and it seems to be working quite well for me. I don't feel as on edge, anxious, or bitchy.
I'm still lonely though and don't have many friends. It's not always fun to sit home alone but I try to keep busy blogging, going to the gym, or working in my yard.
In the 2 years since she's been in college I've seen her grow and mature. But it feels good that she still needs me from time to time. I just had to let go of the day to day reminding her to do this and that. She's a big girl now and needs to take on more responsibility, and I need to let her.
And in these two years I've learned to let go and let her be the adult she needs to be. It's better for us all the way around not to hang on too tight, because it's too hard to let go when we have to; and we all have to at some point.
