Friends

I am struggling with the mutual friend stuff right now.  He and I are over and clearly some have taken his side.  Facebook has been interesting to observe.
I have some serious anger going on over it, but I will get past it in time.
A woman I have been close to since we were 15 has picked him over me.  All she does is go hear his stupid band.  She needs to remember that I was the woman she called EVERY night when her first marriage blew up and she was a single mother...I gave her all I had to give then.
And the boy I grew up with, right around the corner, who is also now a groupie of the STBX.  He unfriended me on FB, now that he is a rich lawyer.  That sorry snot of a man, oh there are words I will not say here.   When we were in elementary school his mother would pack his lunch, and it would be old, moldy, inedible food. so I would share my lunch with him.
I value the true friends that I have.

I\'m so sorry people are taking his side! They are shallow, and it probably is about wanting to be associated with a successful band, and not about his character. You deserve better.

Shallow people are best left in the past. My friends were our friends too, it really brings people into perspective seeing who really is there for you. I\'m supposed to tag up with an old friend today at their place for a football kick off party yet his wife and my ex are still close. Kind of apprehensive about it but screw it I\'m putting on a smile and going anyway. I want to show them I\'m doing fine and have a great time. Part of this struggle but we have to keep moving forward and I think going through the motions and socializing again will ultimately help. Be grateful for your true friends you mention, they are so valuable now. (Hugs!!)

Thank you both for your words of support. They are indeed shallow people, and I am not. His side can have his side and his hide, he ain\'t all that.
I do deserve better. Coop, good on you for attending the party. Smile and hold your head high. My head boss is currently promoting my STBX\'s gig that will take place this afternoon/evening. Talk about awkward and painful. I will probably see her Tuesday. We do not discuss him but shit, it sucks that the woman who evaluates me supports him. I cannot wait to get out of this city,.

You don\'t need fickle friends. The fact that they chose him tells you all you need to know about them. Don\'t waste your time mourning their loss. Focus on the people who truly care about you.

Amy, I agree that it is so hard to find real friends. You can spend almost 10 years with a person and they not really even be a friend. I am sorry you have to deal with this. I to have been shoulder for people to cry on only for them to snob me. Hang in there Amy, we are here for you

I find friendships are a bit like panning for gold. Most of them are not worth much and best discarded when they add nothing of value to your own value. All your need in the pan, however, are a few nuggets of real gold, and you will know their true value easily. Kinda funny really, in both real life and in the analogy here, seems we find the best \"nuggets\" when we are not trying so hard? G:)

Friendships are vital to me. And I count my true friends on a few fingers. I am in mourning tonight and cannot sleep as my best old pal (we have been friends for 50 years, since we were 4) lost her brother today. He was my friend as well, in a way. It has stirred up a lot of emotion inside me and I cannot sleep. I wish I could be with her right now. We have a huge history.
F. was a handsome, charismatic, intelligent man, but he was also a drug user and and a selfish ass at times. But he was her big brother so we tolerated a bit. The last I saw him was a year ago, when he was in a hospital bed in Georgia, and he was arguing with his sister, me and the doctors about his care and his release and I was trying to help her set up a room in her home for him. He refused care, and now he is dead.
I have a ton of emotions around that friend and that brother and our history.
Crazy crap is what it is. But Lori is my best old friend and I will do anything she asks of me. I gave her a car, geez.

Yes value your true friends. I love a quote from the movie Fried Green Tomatoes \"I have learned the most important things in life are friends, best friends\" I did not realize how much I needed the support of my friends until I found myself in my current situation. Friends are a gift from God:-)

True friends are very difficult to find, but once the false ones are gone they are much easier to see.
