For the first time sense your passing I had a major brake down at work. We had a code and I was managing the airway. The code was long and diffiuclt with the patient very hard to hand ventilate. In my eyes I suddenly saw a person instead of a patient. For the frist time in my career I saw a gentle old man who had a life. My patient had once seen the world through young eyes, experienced his first love and his first broken heart. My patient was a first time father, grandfather, and great grandfather. My patient was a human being whos life was in the transtion between worldly and heavenly in front of my eyes. Suddnely the gray blue eyes of an old man became the sea green eyes of the man that I loved the man that I had recently lost, the man I called my soul mate.
My friends and colleages understood, directed me to a quite place, and held me to their hearts. I took a deep breath, wiped my eyes and went back to my job. My patient died, the room became quite, and I heared you say, "I got him."
I love you

Wow Kymberly - powerful and moving words. Thank you for sharing this. Sandy
I don\'t know what to say after reading what you wrote.......stunning.....lovely.....sad......Colleen
Kym, my sympathy for your ordeal. I\'ll keep this short. Remember, we cannot know the future nor can we change the past, we can only pray that we can handle the present.

I\'m so sorry you had this kind of experience. I know how hard it is in the healthcare field. My wife was a nurse for 30 years. I imagine it\'s even harder having to deal with a loss and trying to still do your job. Take care of yourself. God bless.
Wow Kymberly. I am moved to tears. We are forever changed from losing our husbands. Experiences are seen and felt through new eyes and a new heart.
Kym,
I am so sorry I\'m just reading this. I apologize for not having seen it before. You are so amazing....how wonderful that you are in the field you are in, helping others. It\'s an angelic calling.
I think it was bound to happen considering what you\'ve been through...you handled that so well in my opinion. Takes someone with much wherewithal and love to do that job, but to do it while you\'re hurting, to put others before you which you are obviously accustomed to doing, speaks volume about who you are and your character.
You are just lovely.
