This evening was our monthly AA Birthday Supper. It was nice. Not a lot of people, but we had a great meal. Good food, good fellowship, and lots of sobriety. Earlier in the evening, before the supper began, I got a glimpse of myself. There was this one young couple there. The guy was talking to us outside, just saying how he was feeling fine lately. He was also happy about his two weeks of being clean and sober, when he suddenly fell of the bench. It looked like he was waving mosquitos away from himself, when he fell to his knees, dropped his coffee, and hit his head on the sidewalk. His body began to jerk and his muscles were stiffening. We realized he was having a seizure. He hit his head hard enough to bleed profusely. He split the skin close to his eye. There was one lady who held paper towels for his head and 2 others calling for help. I felt the need to kneel down behind him and rub his back. When he came to, he was confused and out of it. We just kept trying to tell him where he was and what happened. I know when I had a seizure, my mom had told me how a friend of mine kept talking to me the whole time I was seizing.  He  worked for the fire department at the time. I tried to comfort this guy the same way. My friend had told me later, that even though someone is in the middle of a seizure, that it's good to touch them and talk to them. Let the person know he's not alone. And the confusion afterward is normal. I had  my friends there tonight also that have experienced seeing me have a seizure. It's scary. Now I see what I've been through when I have one. How confused the person gets. How people have to be patient and understanding. We got news that Jason will be kept overnight at the hospital. He's doing better. I ask you all to please pray for him. And I'm sure a lot of you can relate to this story.  And I remember what I was doing before my friend picked me up tonight for the supper. I was fixing my pill box for the next week. This just reinforced the fact that I cannot miss any doses of Dilantin for my own health. This  could happen to anyone of else. Fall down and bust our head due to a seizure.  My life is at stake!
