Feeling a little fuzzy this morning. Stayed up way past my bedtime - but it's ok - it was worth it.

Kids are home today due to the Easter holiday...Oooh I mean "Spring Holiday". It bothers me a little bit that we've all become some politically correct when it comes to holidays. My daughter came home from school yesterday with a "Spring basket" from school. She came running up the driveway as she got off the bus all excited about her spring basket. She said the Spring Bunny came to school and left her the basket. I said, you mean the Easter bunny - and she said oh no mom Mrs. ______ said it's the Spring Bunny.

I understand that there are many different faiths/beliefs in this world, and I respect what we do, and what each of us practices. What gets me is we are no longer allowed to feel comfortable about our believes in fear that we might offend someone else. Honestly, if someone came up to me and said Happy CHannaka (I know i totally misspelled that) or Happy Kwanza I would not be offended in the least! We all need to get over ourselves and enjoy the season of each holiday, and not feel as if we have have to walk on eggshells because of our beliefs. That being said - the should either abolish all holiday celebrations at school, or acknowledge each in their own way. I mean, there's nothing wrong with educating people about religion. IMHO and this is just my opinion, I think that we should be allowed to make up our minds as adults as to what faith we feel we would like to have.

For me, my parents were devote Catholics. I went to church everyday, and I'm not exaggerating at all...yes everyday! I played the organ, was in the church choir, taught CCD, etc. It wasn't an option. All my other friends were out enjoying themselves and being kids after school, and I was stuck inside practicing the organ, so that I could play in church. I had to go to church, etc. Yes, I know, you must be saying - come on you didn't have it that bad. Parents abused you with religion....no...what i'm saying is that I grew to resent it because there was no "break" in my house with it. Everything in my house revolved around religion. Maybe because it was a way for my mom to "escape" from the surroundings in the house. Who knows.
All I know is that I haven't been to church in years, and have no desire to. It doesn't make me a bad person. I feel I went to church enough during my upbringing to last me a lifetime.

I teach my children about all religions. I want them to be able to form their own opinions and beliefs. But, it's just my opinion, not saying it's right, just my thoughts on it...Wow, quite the ramble on religion! Moving right along....

Woke up about 8:30 - that's sleeping in for me! Layed in bed for a few and turned on the T.V., and the Today Show was on. I watch it faithfully everyday. It's like having coffee with my buds! lol Anyways, Robin Thicke was on as the guest singer. I absolutely LOVE his single Lost Without You....As my friend who is African American says - he has alot of soul for a white boy! LOL Ok, hope that didn't offend anyone!! But, it's an absolutely great song....I love songs that having meanings - to me the words are so important to songs. I feel like you can relate to so much within the meanings of songs. Anyways....

I guess I've rambled enough.


Things I'm greatful for -

Spring Flowers - I absolutely love them, daffodils being my favorite. The colors of Spring can be so uplifting!

That snow doesn't stick around very long in April, and melts quickly!

The robins are back - a sure sign of Spring.

Friends that you make along the way - and how they are important.

NYC Pretzels with LOTS of mustard!
