Well, I fought for something I believed in. I don't mean to sound conceded at all by the statement I'm about to make, but - I'm in awe with myself!
Never in a million years did I ever think I was able to communicate for something that thought was right. I never stuck up for myself all my life. I never voiced my opinion in fear of reprecussions. I'm not a communicator. Never have been. I was raised with never an "I love you" from my parents. I'm not saying they didn't - I'm just saying it was never said in my house. There were no hugs/kisses, etc. We were raised to be seen, but not heard. It carried on into my adult life. I can say my marriage failed by what my husband did within the marriage - but I now look back on it, and put blame on myself as well for not communicating the things that bothered me within the relationship. I just accepted it, and thought I had to deal with it, and that I had no options.
I'm discovering so much about myself everyday.
I've been struggling with my identity. Not my identity as a label - meaning daughter, sister, mother and now....former wife. I mean MY identity. Who I am....I'm still struggling, but today I saw a little light shining, showing me something I didn't know about myself, or that I was capable of.
I have to say...if feels really good :)
