Just stuff

So, I took a second driver's lesson on Saturday and unfortunately it was horrible. The teacher expected me to pretty much read his mind when it came to directions.  He would not tell me if he wanted me to turn right or left until the last possible moment.  He did not know street names and he felt that after one lesson, I should be driving a car like I have been doing it my whole life.  My turns are not good, yet he wanted me to turn down small crowded streets.  I have no idea how to back out of a driveway onto a busy street and I am still frazzled that he had me driving on major arteries of the city.  At one point, I pulled over and had to collect myself because of his bad instruction and me feeling so overwhelmed.  I am looking for a new instructor.
On Sunday, I usually bake enough desserts to last me and boys all week.  My trusty oven for the last 20 years finally said goodbye.  I was hurt that the oven stopped working, the boys were more hurt because I could not bake.  Instead of panicking, I took a deep breathe and said to myself "it's time to remodel this kitchen".  The kitchen is in the same condition when I bought the house a little over 7 years ago; circa 1970.  So it's long overdue.  I explained to the boys what our next project in the house was and they became very excited.  My youngest wants marble counter tops (he is 14 years old) and my oldest wants an espresso machine (he is 22 years old).  I am having so much fun with them these days.
On another note, I found a mechanic to fix the Jeep in my driveway and it will cost half of what I thought it would.  I am excited, but scared at the same time.  So much is happening and it seems to be happening at a fast pace.  My best friend said that I should just breathe and accept my blessings because they are long overdue.  I understand this, but it does little to quell the fear.  I guess I just have to build myself up some more.

I\'m glad you\'re looking for a new instructor. It reminds me of my first driving experience. During my first lesson my instructor had me driving in the left lane of the Long Island Expressway. I found someone with a keener sense of self-preservation. The kitchen renovations sound like fun. I\'m glad you\'re embracing life.

Keep going, you\'re doing great! How exciting to do the remodel, this is great bonding time with your boys. Life is looking up and you all deserve that.

I must have missed an entry somewhere. Did someone give you their Jeep for free so you could get it fixed and drive it? That is a blessing. Good luck with the driving. It is scary at first, for sure. Yay to you for pushing forward.

I am glad you are not overwhelmed by the kitchen remodel. Yes, it does sound overdue. Be careful with the marble countertops. Some of these modern counters don\'t hold up as well as the laminates used in the past. I hope you and your sons love your new kitchen!

11, I had my ex sign the Jeep over to me when we were in court for the divorce. My best friend actually reminded me of it the day before. It was not listed in our divorce decree. My ex had a habit of when something is wrong with a car, he would stop driving it instead of trying to figure out what was wrong with it. So I would go buy another one with my credit and put him on the title. The Jeep has set in my driveway the last 2 years after I bought the new car, which he took with him. My best friend figured it would be cheaper to fix it than to buy a new one, since I only have one income now. She was right. I will buy a new one once I get a better job (which I hope will be next year).

I am glad you will be able to get it fixed inexpensively. Truly a blessing! My mom didn\'t drive my entire childhood, and still doesn\'t, so I sort of know what it\'s like, having to take buses everywhere, or walk, or arrange a ride. She still depends on other people or buses to get around. Getting your license will be very liberating.
