Just been for my 27th venesection. Ferretin now at 258. The hell continues, although I don't feel quite as bad as I have in the past.

Dear Mike,

I was wondering how you are - your treatment has been such a struggle for you. You have made very good progress for 27 venesections so far as I think you started with your ferritin in the thousands. I hope it does not take you too many more to reach a satisfactory level and I hope that you are feeling better at times.

Nice to hear from you, Christine. Yes, my level drops by an average of 70 points per venesection.
Trouble is, when it starts to get to a reasonable level, the stored Iron starts coming outt of somewhere else!
Now got the aches in the knees and feet, so we can\'t go much lower!
How is you adoing?
Hope you are getting toward maintanance!
Mike, xx.

Dear Mike,

I hope you are well.

My consultant put me on bi-monthly venesections but my ferritin began to rise so I am back on monthly venesections. The frequency has not been regular as at new year I was told there was too much pressure on the ward to give me my treatment so I was sent away. Around 3 weeks ago I had a dreadful cold and temperature for over a week so I did not go for my scheduled appointment. I rarely get ill so it was unlucky.

I have my 6-month check-up next week and will take a blood test the day before. Maybe then my maintenance regime will be a little clearer.

Fond regards, Christine X
