I met a woman, 2 years ago, an amazing, strong, powerful, beautiful, colourful, amazing woman, and she inspired me like nothing has ever inspired me before. Before I met her my poetry was just words; she let me open my soul and pour myself onto the page. I feel she guides me with my writing and my words, with my speech and my stance, she showed me how to hold my head high and throw everything I have and everything I am from the stage into the audience because those words are mine, they are who I am and she showed me that I should be proud of that. And even though I've only met this woman once, for that one week I felt that someone understood me, someone wanted to listen. Now I would do anything to meet her again but I doubt she remembers me. I was simply a terrified, traumatised little girl with a lot to hide but a lot to say, who's hand she held as I stood on stage with my crumpled papers shaking in my hands and tears running down my face as I showed people my soul and opened up and performed my own words for the first time.
