Thought I met someone of quality the other night in my travels to Deerfield Beach. Was out taking pictures at night, walked by a restaurant where this pretty young woman looked right at me, seemed kinda lonely...we locked eyes for a few seconds, then I passed by. Came back there, took a few pictures of the pier, she came up next to me and leaned against the boardwalk, I said "hi, how are you?" and we proceded to talk a bit. She's a med tech working for some hostpital in the area, said she was "working off a hangover" (oohh, probably not a good sign), European (which I like), speaks several languages (a very smart girl), likes to make everybody happy. I asked "what makes YOU happy?", didn't really get a response. Said she never wants to get married, after hearing how miserable her friends' marriages are (cool, we have something in common there). We exchanged numbers, hugged...seemed like a good start...I thought I'd call her the next day (probably a mistake on my part, should've waited longer), caught her at work when she was busy, apologized, let her go, called her that night, she picked up twice and then hung up. WTF? I was just being friendly, trying to soothe her nerves after a tough day, merely trying to spark something warm and affectionate between us, stir "friends with benefits", which is what I want and seems to be what she wants. Maybe I'll call her again next week; maybe I won't. I really don't care at this point...next-!
