Got out and met a nice lady yesterday at Quiet Waters Park, who was watching the guys waterski.  She was very nice to me, we enjoyed some laughs, and talked openly about a lot of stuff going on in our lives.  She's from Hungary and is here in Florida on vacation.  She mentioned how people in the States are not as open or friendly as foreigners.  I concurred, said that, by and large, it seems people in the States are so obsessed with getting ahead financially that they distance themselves emotionally from each other, lifting the headphone of an ipod off their ear and saying "what?", as though I've invaded their "space".  I said it makes me want to go overseas.  She's already got a boyfriend, who was there.  I was only chatting with her and I wouldn't have made a move on her even if he wasn't there and she told me about him--I respect committed relationships, even if the girl is not married to the guy.  But still, bummer.  This has happened twice.  Girls who were  very open and flirtatious with me, only to have it slip out in conversation that they're with another guy.  Why don't they just say, right off the bat, "I've got a boyfriend"?  Maybe they're not sure if they like me yet and are trying to keep their options open.  Why is it that the best ones are taken?  Guys don't wait long to jump on the ladies, do they?  A remotely pretty woman has no problem hooking up, but guys seem to be expected to be the aggressors in American society, and we can't expect women to come to us, so I guess I'm gonna be aggressive.  Oh well, gonna go to the grocery store and get some grub.  I've been told it's a good place to meet ladies too.  I'm looking for "friends with benefits" right now, and see where it leads...would love someone to be sweet and romantic with...share hopes and dreams...explore those animal urges too...(gee I'm starting to sound like I'm on a dating site)  Hope everyone's well.

The media, romance novels and the movie industry have all done their fair share of destroying the dating ritual. Keep trying, this thing will eventually take off and fly.
