wow
2.5 weeks ago, Mom had a bad nosebleed...know this happens when people get older & the last bad one Mom had, they cauterized her nairs & that fixed it for a while. The first hemmorhage happened with her just bending over...we did try to encourage her to go to emerg. & she should've, but they truly don't have any comfortable facilities for people with DISH, so if you go in & have to wait 40 years until the second coming, then you get to suffer from 2 ailments for the price of one...and it drags on for hours b/c no hospital I know of outside of Mayo never ever has enough staff. Eventually, she got the first nosebleed stopped, but then it happened again, 3 days later. This time, there was no stopping it...horrible...blood and individual clots the size of crushed berries, coming out of both her mouth and nose...I thought she'd choke to death, b/f anyone in emergency got the flow controlled, which took nearly 3 hours. I was terrified that, as a result, she'd come down with phnemonia, or pass out from blood loss. How tough to you have to be, anyway, to survive modern life? Dad was ticked b/c he felt she should've gone in the 1st time, but I understood how Mom felt, so for both, I tried to be neutral, supportive, quick...all that crap that you're never really good at, unless you work in medical trauma for a profession... Eventually, she got to come home that day and went to her ear/nose/throat dr. 3 days later for a patch...there was some discharge when he took out the "nose tampon" (as the dr. in emergency called it) and Mom nearly passed out from the pain when he removed it, but thankfully, there was no hemmorhaging...then, on Sunday, she finally resume normal nose-blowing... So...guess you go to emergency the first time around, no matter how uncomfortable...my ? is, why on earth do they have a grand piano in the registration foyer, but no comfortable furniture in emergency for people who are disabled, or partially disabled?
