1. Pulled THE WORST bonehead mistake on Friday: overwrote my finished file w/the one I was currently working on, so lost 3 days of close-intensive work. No way to backup-retrieve it, I found out, and no safety copies of the file, ANYPLACE--WHAT WAS I THINKING? WHY DIDN'T I MAKE ANY SAFETY BACKUP COPIES? :>0 ...Well, I was thinking about taping "Dr. Who" and not missing it...and, that's where I went wrong...I was thinking about Labor Day and bbqing & wasn't paying attention...turns out the" Dr." wasn't on, anyway (stupid Sci-Fi channel
...just kidding...). Anyway, it's a good thing the rest of the group had gone home...the air got pretty blue in there w/my swearing...then, I felt that icky/shaky feeling I get when I get overstressed and upset...my bp meds. can only help so much...it was dumb to get that enraged...it didn't help change anything...so, I opted for disheartened and went home...
2. So have been spending the weekend in the office, w/o help, re-doing the file fr. scratch...did get the other one finished, but I was nearly there, anyway...have you ever tried to measure doors at an angle w/o a protractor? (yeah, I know there's a way...I think I discovered it...AFTER SIX HOURS). Or, accurately measure a stupid scale of 3/32"-to-a-foot on paper? Well, I think it's one of those don't-try-this-at-home-type activities...ugh! My bifocal line didn't help much, either...talk about laboring for Labor Day...
3. I liked it much better when I used to "log" dirt and rocks; unless there's a quake, dug-dirt just sits there and you scale it and draw it up...usu., nobody asks you to re-design already-dug dirt...thank God!
4. I hate all angled doors, too, now, btw...
5. Anyway, it "looks" pretty close to the drawing I accidentally blew away...as long as you don't measure it too closely on the screen...I just couldn't fix everything...tomorrow, I dimension the damned thing and make a pdf...that all should just take four hours...it needs to be re-scaled, before I officially plot to copy, but my brain already died...the rest of me is on autopilot, for now...I think I've listened to everything on my mp3, at least eleven times...will have to switch back to my cd's tomorrow...but, as the Zep used to croon, it was "...nobody's fault but mine..." Talk about "dumb and dumber"...urk!
6. The bbq for tomorrow has been cancelled...my mom got fed up w/stuff around the house & told my dad to treat G.M. to McDonald's (even though she's not supposed to really be eating there, she really enjoyed herself!); in the meantime, the steaks I had bought were pan-fried and quite excellent! Mom is such a good cook...she should've been resting, though, but wouldn't hear of it...later, Mom and I watched "Inspector Linley"...well, after that episode, I didn't feel quite so sorry for myself...
Well, here's hoping everything clears, for good, on Tuesday...my back/neck/shoulders/drafting hand should feel re-attached, by then...:>0
Happy Labor Day...I think...
