Ugh! More bad news...G.M.'s specialist called from her state, to let us know that she has the "wet" macular degeneration, which means that it's inevitable that she's going to go blind...this will mean that she will--eventually--have to come and live w/us, when she can no longer see...

Well, my dad promised my mom, nearly 12 years ago, that he would remodel--AND FINISH--fixing up the house for her, so that everything was handi-capable for her later years ('cause of her lupus) and ready to sell, in case they needed the money...to be blunt: this, he has stalled upon, either ignoring her pleas to finish, or just being downright nasty about wanting to discuss it (BTW, it was my dad's idea to remodel, 'cause he "couldn't stand" the house the way it was, when they moved in...don't know why...it was a very nice place...well, it still is, but it would be nicer and stay a lot cleaner, if the rest of the walls in the back had been put back up...).

In true dad style--because he is a perfectionist (even when he's being very unwilling about it)--my dad has also refused to let anyone else finish the place, because "They'll just @#$* it up!" and, therefore, it will be a waste of $...

On the other hand (and, he has some of the $ for this), he doesn't want to be the one to finish it, either...

Well, with G.M. having this new problem, Mom and I are wondering if--finally--he'll have to finish the place, now, because blind, or not, HIS own mom is not going to be as patient about living in an unfinished house, as my mom has been, all of these years...

...So...anyone else been through this?

I'm through spewing...that's quite enough, for today...

Hey honey! Spew all you want to! A girl\'s gotta vent and this is as good a place to do it as anyplace! It is frustrating when your dad is procrastinating and allowing his perfectionism to stall any progress he\'ll have with the house. Hopefully, he will hire someone: at least it will be done in a timely manner if he does! I\'m sorry I\'ve been away so long; I was sinking fast and had to be rescued by some friends (see journal). I\'m okay now. But thinking of you,
Jessica

Btw, wet AMD can be managed v well with a couple of medicines; they really retard progression of the disease, so don\'t worry!
