Well, here I am: nearing middle age, unemployed and living with my aging parents [very sadly, going on two years, now!] and am still unable to drive outside of my old home town. I know I can't just keep "moving" to cities that have local transportation systems and calling it "good enough," but the last time I tried to drive to the next town--less than two miles away--I got a panicky feeling and chickened out, shakily took an offramp and somehow mucked around, trying not hit anyone while I "merged" and got back to my parent's home...with my tail between my legs. :>(

Funny thing is, someone let me fly their private plane, once, for about 10 minutes--including a little banking. Even though that was over twenty years ago--and I know that that was neither safe, nor smart--I should've been terrified that my "door" on the plane would unlock and dump me out--sans parachute...but, I couldn't even MAKE myself afraid! I can't figure that one out, at all!

But, I want to be more of a help to my own parents, as long as they're "floating" me, here, until I find a job. I should be taking my mom to the out-of-town doctors appointments, so that my dad doesn't have to. But, I'm too cowardly. My parents have been very kind, patient and understanding, but now I'm starting to wonder if their acceptance--and my taking of it--hasn't just weakened me.

Opinions, anyone?

Thanks, always, for listening!
