60 degrees and windy//eggnog with bourban//dreading the stores
its 60 degrees and windy. started the day with publix eggnog with bourban - publix has the best eggnog and its on sale. they also have kerrygold spreadable butter on sale for $3, which i had in the fridge and i think ak dropped it because the package is broken and he was watching me as i went in to get it. grrrr.
went to the marina briefly with the girls. b was a no show. saw e briefly, but he is ill. he says he gets sick if he eats certain foods - gout, gall bladder, and food allergies in general all do that. you can't fish in this kind of wind, so i think everyone is kind of bored. kvk was by, which was a BIG surprise because he has company. i know he was in a great mood t-day morning and seemed real annoyed afterward. lol. having a zillion people at your house all at one time almost never works out. its soooo much easier to just see people on different days. why stress yourself out if you don't have to. i'm not even sure anymore if that is good for kids. i used to think it was fun for them, or is it that being corralled with too many people is part of every child's routine and they become inured to it - like the misery of living with something you loathe? everyone ends up in little groups anyway.
talked to ch and mry and they both did the "head for the office" thing for most of the day because they both had too many people at their house. mry has 3 grandchildren and her daughter and her current "fiance" and then the kids teenage friends. lol. i knew mry does this (for all holidays) but i didn't know ch did. people are always a surprise.
started dick van dyke's memoir, lucky life and went back to one of the campconfidential books, which are verrrrry superficial so far -- its based on the author's experience at boarding school, not summer camp. she never even attended summer camp, so its kind of annoying to even read it because so much of it is totally NOT TRUE of camping - reading the foreward on that book is what got me writing/recalling summer camp(s) to begin with a couple of years ago. but the books sold so its worth a read to see the author's approach.
need to pick up animal supplies but dreading the store. wonder if anyone got any good deals. i wanted to do the sales thing, until i thought about it. lol.

We\'re in the thirties up here, 38! I\'d be happy with sixty! All of the rest of our leaves just finally dropped in the back yard, so we\'ll be calling our friend over with his super-duper leaf blower to get over here. Last time he bagged 32 BAGS of leaves. This property is just full of leaves. One of the things I loved about Florida was NOT having to deal with THIS!
I\'ve never heard of kerrygold! Sounds rich though! LOL...I miss Publix and Winn Dixie. The supermarkets down there, well everything down there is just so much cleaner inside, the pollution is less, and the weather is better. Sometimes I wish I was still there. Till August hits! Then I remember why I like the change of seasons up here. I\'m heat intolerant and never really felt \"well\" in the Florida sun by the time I hit my thirties.
I was down there in my twenties though, for ten years and in good health. MAN, did I party!! LOL!!! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!
you should try north florida, its 3 seasons and if you were in the tallahassee/panama city area, you\'d be close enough to georgia to hit the georgia mountain in the august if you like that.
Kerrygold is irish butter and its high end so good for holidays. (i don\'t see much of a difference from land o lakes - which is normally half the price of kerrygold unless there is a sale).
i actually get THREE falls of leaves here, its another reason to miss south florida where all there is, is concrete, palm trees and flowers - makes me homesick just thinking about it. but south florida has hurricanes and nowadays it is sooooo crowded it doesn\'t resemble what it used to be. pensacola is more like fort lauderdale was 30 years ago.
32 bags of leaves is a LOT of leaves though. we don\'t get anywhere near that. if i have five i think its a lot and complain. on the main land we had live oak trees and would get more. i never attempted any of that myself, always used a handy person.
any snow up there?
