6 months after diagnosis of RA
I was diagnosed with RA in or around April of 2013 & I was sooooo devastated. Partially because I didn't truly know what RA was & part of it was because I didn't think I would be medication dependent this early in my life. I'm a 43yr old male & I would say I'm a normal male. I don't work out but I am told I have an athletic "look". I'm probably 15lbs over weight. I quit smoking 7 years ago but I'm a real "foodie" & enjoy my foods of all kinds. I try to eat in moderation & watch my fat intake but a lot of times the food wins that battle.
I was told by my RA doc that we caught it relatively early. Although my blood test shows I have aggressive RA, I have no joint damage..yet. We started off with prednisone to get rid of the pain & inflammation & with 10mg of methotrexate.
So far.....so good. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being as how I felt when I first went to see my specialist & 10 being RA free or pre- RA symptoms. I'd say I feel like a 8.5 - 9. None of my major or large joints are affected. I have my left index finger (large knuckle) which feels tender at times & the feeling like I have to crack my knuckle on my right hand middle finger. I have full 100% complete mobility, no stiffness in the morning or throughout the day.
I feel great about 5-7 days out of the week & the only reason why I don't feel that great is due to the side effects of the mtx. Today and yesterday I felt pretty nauseous so I'd say I feel okay today.

So glad to hear mtx is working for you. The diagnosis is devastating at any point in your life. I have been on mtx since Feb and have no nausea now. I wish you well in your journey. Trish
This \"stuff\" we deal with treats us all differently - hope you are doing well and that the path is pain free.
Be well
