Food
"America's food revolution is in part a reacquainting with the real cost of good things- and the delicious satisfactions that come with paying that price." -Scott Mowbray, editor of Cooking Light.
I'm not so sure why this quote resonated so deeply with me, but it did. As the issues I am having have not been diagnosed, I am hesitant to dive into any extreme change in the way I (and conscequently my family) eat. I am keeping my eye on Anne8's post about regaining muscle, as it has also sparked a discussion about gluten-free eating. I am REALLY hoping that discussion continues... In the meantime, I have expanded even farther my local-vore and organic purchasing decisions.

I am glad my post has inspired you. I am mostly trying to go gluten-free, but I admit I am not sure. I am trying to cut back on things that often cause inflamation. I would consider cutting out dairy, but it is a MAJOR part of my diet. (I am a vegetarian, and most of my diet is from lactose-based food, hence I can\'t do the Wahl\'s diet. I also grew up on a dairy farm.)
I really hope you figure out what\'s going on with you (and that it ISN\'T MS, I wouldn\'t wish it on anyone). The deal is, unless you have some sudden typical marker, like optic neuritis, which leaves you suddenly blind for some months, they are slow to label it MS. In my case, I seem to only have lesions in my upper brain, which is atypical. As I have many, then yes they could confirm. Had I realised something was happening early on, I wouldn\'t have gotten a diagnosis so quickly.
Oh, by the way, I teach too!
I went for my MRI on Friday. I am hoping for some clarification out of it. Due to some scheduling issues, it ended up being a T3 in the regular head MRI room, not an open MRI.
I\'m not hoping for a diagnosis of MS, but am at peace with it if it is.
Vegetarian, eh? Sounds tough. I grew up with goats and their milk, but only have a small amount of dairy in my regular diet. We hunt, so \"organic\" meat makes up most of my protein. And eggs. I love eggs...,
What do you teach? I am an SLP at a high school. I co-teach English and Social Studies. I am fortunate in that I LOVE what I do, and have two GREAT teachers that I teach with who cut me slack when I am \"not quite myself.\"
Hi, I didn\'t see this \'til just now. I think maybe DS doesn\'t notify when people respond to journal entries. . . I teach English as a foreign language, and have been doing it for 18 + years. Where in Vermont are you? I am visiting Rutland county.
I am up by St. Albans. Coincidentally, I will be staying in Rutland on the last weekend of the month. Taking the family to the Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, and Ft. Ticonderoga on Sunday.
Luckily, the hot weather seems to have broken today. Are your boys here with you?
