Now, tis the holidays and as humbug as this sounds GRRRR! I abhor the commercialism (if I see one more diamond commercial being the symbol of CHRISTMAS I'll puke!
) We've got it soooooo backwards.
I try to teach my children each year we place money in Salvation Army kettles and I ask them why we do this. They have learned that others are not so fortunate and I explain some folks have no food, etc. that they are abundantly blessed. Now, not that I'm the perfect mom, heavens sakes, but they do seem to be caring, giving, compassionate and for that I feel like I have accomplished something by God's grace.
ON TO OTHER NOTES --- The grant writing thing is SNOWBALLING! YIKES. I will speak to the Ruritans at 7:30 AM, the Mayor at 9:00 AM and the Captain of the Salvation Army at noon. On top of this, the NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH want me to join their merry band. I think I shall decline as my plate is full. Help if I may but join NO!
I found out that grant writing begins with a minimum charge of $200. to write, $500 to research/locate one, and then some charge a 5-10% of the grant amount! I am not going to be doing any more freebies I think. What say all you? I mean, I don't want to gouge folks but I feel that a flat $200 is fair. ISN'T IT???? I mean I love doing this and I don't want to make a bazillion bucks but I do want compensated for costs & time. I-D-E-A-S??????
Merriest of Christmases to each of you and please, if you were planning to send me DIAMONDS, D-O-N-'T! I've asked my older kids to please get me coffee beans to fresh grind. Yes, only I would ask for coffee beans for Christmas. ROFLOL I also asked for gift certificates to Goodwill & Salvation Army as I love to "rummage" and it also helps out the needy.

Rummaging is one of my favs. It\'s like looking for buried treasure. I\'ve found some real finds in my day. Once at a yard sale there was a sandwich bag of jewelry, well, I know jewelry, and there were some REAL PIECES in there. I told the lady, \"Ma\'m, do you know there\'s some real stuff in here?\" because I wanted to be honest and beside it could have been in error they were there. She said yes, so I gave her $3 for the entire sandwich bag and HONEY....one ring was real Black Hill Sterling Silver with a real amythest (had my jeweler check out the real stuff), a real diamond 10K ring (value $85). So, God certainly sends His children special things they enjoy.

Few of us would know what a fair price for your service would be. Do you have a similar setup in another stste to compare with?
OK, did the research and here are the prices for grant writers....You ready? $200 minimum to write, $500 to locate/research, 5-10% on project total. SOOOOOOO, I ain\'t goin\' to be free no more my darlin\'. I will be charging a flat $200 per grant but for special ones (my friend runs a pantry for the poor and needs grant funds) I will do a % so if the grant goes thru I get paid and if not, well, then she won\'t be indebted as she is working to help the poor.
This area is sooooooo poor that most folks have tapped out the resources from every entity in the area just trying to survive and Christmas time/winter is even harder. God have mercy on each one. I figure God has given me these talents and knowledge and I will help where/who I can but those who can afford me, will pay. Sound fair???? Love to you.
