Please explain..........Dr. tells you to exercise......so son and I walked gently & slowly enjoying talking, picking flowers, etc.  And now my pain level is thru the roof.  I mean, I could see if I were straining lifing weights, etc. but WALKING?   Go figure?  I feel like my bad arm/side that I injured originally is being bashed with a sledge hammer.  I am soooooo sick at my tummy as well.  So, isn't exercise supposed to help?  I mean this is NOT the kind of "pain" from doing something new or using muscles that you usually don't use.  God knows I walk laps in this house doing laundry, and chasing kids.  But my back and bones.......OH GOD, the pain.  I hurt so bad the pain is making me ill at my tummy even worse.OK, so, nuff of that stuff.  Found some really neat flowers for son to press in the book, and I did spy an abandoned minnow trap in the creek so I crawled over the guard rail, down the rock bank, and hauled the minnow trap out.  MAN WAS IT FULL OF CRAWDADS!  MAN OH MAN!  So, in addition to the flowers we found for pressing, the crawdads were put in our backyards crick (creek if you want to pronounce it correctly ROFLOL) so we can surprise hubby when he gets back.We actually had some guy and his son stop us on route of our walk eye-balling our crawdads!  He was totally impressed and said "You really have a mess of 'em."  I said "Yeah, and explained to the son how to bait the minnow trap, how it worked to trap crawdads, etc."  ANYWAYS, I had a haul of 'em to be sure and the were fine lookin' crawdads!  No, I am not going to eat the freakin' things altho some folk do here, GAG, but they are awfully handy for fishing.  Further, I was NOT going to admit that this was a minner (minnow) trap that we had found as sometimes the crick (creek) gets high and minner traps float off from the original site.  ANYHOW, it didn't have name/address or anything so by rights in these parts, the minner traps & crawdads are mine!  Take care my darling peeps and that completes your lesson on crawdads, minner (minnow) traps, and hope you get your own mess of 'em.  LOL LOL LOL

I tried to get the chat button to work, but it wouldn\'t respond. I need to restart my computer and maybe this site will work better.

With exercise, for some idiotic reason, doctors assume that because we have muscle and joint pain, it HAS to be that we\'re so out of shape, it\'s a miracle we can hold our heads up. LOL. And of course, the solution to that is to \'get in shape girl\' like the doll from years ago.

What they fail to realize is that we don\'t get enough O2 to our brains and muscles so all this great exercise knocks us on our butts for days. I\'m still recovering from jumping on the rebounder and walking 2 or 3 days in a row. And we\'re not talking about a long trek here--about 15 minutes of walking and 3 minutes on the rebounder. Still, I\'m absolutely beat and spent 3 hours in bed yesterday recouping. It\'s pathetic, but we can only do what we can do.

Maybe I need to pontificate on the subject. We\'re all soooooo eager to please any doctor that half-way believes us that we let their opinion override what our body tells us. I sure did when I first got diagnosed.

Your crick sounds delightful!!!

I\'m going to restart my computer and will be back around a bit later. I\'m on AOL and this site is slower than the end of the world sometimes.

Till then........

I always love that comment, my doc says it all the time and i always forget to say, when you get the flu or a really bad cold where everything aches i want you to go outside and exercise! Because we feel like crap everyday and for some reason they are programmed into telling us that exercise will make us feel better, i believe it clears the cobwebs out of the brain with all the endorphines and that stuff probably good for the heart i\'m sure but who wakes up feeling good and says i\'m going to go exercise? not me for the past 7 years! hang in there my friend

I have the same problem with the doctors all saying to exercise more. Luckily my physical therapist isn\'t that way. I get massage therapy from him and he has this video of a few streches and gentle exercises I do every night in bed, way different than most physical therapist I tell you. The rheumy I went to the other day said she was going to have call my physical therapist and change his thinking a little. I hope she doesn\'t sway him in any way. I feel like I got him in trouble because my explaination of FM came from him. He says it is caused by a build up of toxins in our bodies because our lymphactic system is not working correctly. She is like no, it\'s because our pain center in our head is going off for no reason, because of some misfiring synaps or something. Either way you can feel the tight tigger points all through out my body, so there has to be a physical reason besides our brains misfiring. Ok I am done with my rant. Take care of you and get some rest. Much Love & ((HUGS)) Teresa

maybe it\'s how you aredefining exercise...crawling down the crik, catching minnows and crawdads ...that is exercise...just like my taking out hte dog 10 x a day for 5-10 minutes, or pulling weeds ..it\'s all exercise. I think they think we don\'t ever move...and if we don\'t or can\'t they need to know that. But when they ask me do you exercise, I say yes! You try dragging a runnign hose back and forth to water the horses..that\'s exercise!

ADELLE - YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT! I mean, I feel like Hell so I don\'t do no freakin\' Denise Austin or Sweatin\' to the Oldies with Richard Simmons. I mean, I know \"technically\" I don\'t \"exercise\" but when I worked full-time, cared for the kids, the house, ran errands, took the kids everywhere, went to church AFTER wrangling kids to be ready, I didn\'t feel like this and child, that is SOME MOVING! I am all for endorphines and I do ENJOY my walks with my little boy seeing the birds, etc. and it reduces stress but should all that crap make me feel BETTER not worse?

TSK - Yah, exercise is the cure all. I actually heard a dr say, \"Look you\'re going to hurt sitting so you might as well hurt exercising.\" Uh-Huh....and so with this theory in mind, can we please put tacks in our shoes to walk???? MORON. The Massager dude sounds more right as I was told the same thing BEFORE I HAD MY TOTAL MELT DOWN INTO ILLNESS. He told me straight up if I didn\'t change my WORK I would create permanent nerve damage. Well, guess what happened. Yep, neck/uppper back, perm nerve damage, cervical radiculopathy, left extreme neuropathy, compressed nerve, cervical nerve root irritation.....So, I believe both of your people are right....the pain system gets turned on from the toxins and then it gets stuck in OUCH mode.

KEEPINGONG -- You\'re right. I am not a lump on a couch with a remote (however, please do apply me for the job) since I do 3-5 loads of laundry daily which means bending over (toe touches), sorting (more freakin\' toe touches), carrying laudry to washer (weight lifting), removing laundrying from washer (increase weight lifting since it\'s wet) and putting out on line (more toe touches to get clothes with arm thrusts to put on line.) So, no dag gon wonder I\'m tired, eh? ROFLOL
Why don\'t drs consider HOUSEWORK exercise? I mean last time I checked it makes my pulse rise and I breathe hard and break a sweat. What about, not to be rude...sex? Honey, soundn\'t that count as exercise too? I mean, let\'s be honest, if we are just laying there, hubby is either gonna call 911 or say hey what\'s the problem. ROFLOL Sorry, just had to be full of myself.

Love & hugs to each of you.

I\'m with you on the Dr. exercise thing. It\'s like a vicious cycle--they want you to exercise to help your body-get more oxygen to the muscles, etc., but when it sends your pain level thru the roof---what\'s up????? Then you have to take more pain meds. to survive-or just to try to function somewhat normally. I walk alot at work --up and down--I have 2 speeds stop and go. If you ever figure out a better way, PLEASE let me know!!!!!!!!!!Hope your pain goes away. Have a good one----babe

Mt dear Babe ---- OK, my PLAN is to keep slowly walking and praying (when 9 yr old son is questioning me about weeds, birds, trees, etc. ROFLOL) as if NOTHING ELSE it reduces my stress and that\'s important. I am thankful that God puts His finger in my prayer list as it gets interrupted quite alot on our little walks. BUT, it will not be forever as he will grow up and this time is precious. He is learning when I don\'t IMMEDIATELY answer, and says \"Oh, you\'re praying.\" I just smile, finish my \"section\" and speak with him. Love to you. Stop and go is still better than no go at all.
