Lots of changes in my life. After my 23 month old daughter was diagnosed with diabetes I quit school and my job to be full time care for her. I became a toddlers pancreas in a blink of an eye. We then relocated to a new town to be closer to my husbands work. My whole world switched from this path I thought I had. But that's life, right, always changing. But there is this one issue. It's my coping skills. They aren't so great. I find myself overwhelmed at times. I don't have relief from this 24 hour job. I even have to do the 2 am blood test and more when we adjust the insulin. I'm exhausted. My husband works out of town and is away for up to 6 weeks at a time. When he's home I like to give him actual days offs. My mother who lives with us gives the " I did my time, now it's your turn" speech. Shes out of the question. Plus she drinks daily. I am overwhelmed with the feeling that I deserve one thing for myself. The easy way out these last couple months have been the wine at night but that is becoming an issue obviously. I end up with less sleep, depression and now stomach pains. I have had addiction issues in my past so This is easily turned too. Before I use to reach out and get help from Councilors and support groups. so now I don't have those options. I have made a vow not to go down the easy but very painful drinking road.. So now what? I just want to be healthy for my children. They deserve a strong mother.
