I don't know what to do with David, the last 3 nights he has been awful. We are trying to get him back in his bed and the last 3 nights he has very loudly and rudely argued aboout sleeping with us, all we are asking is that he make an effort to start in his bed, night before last he was laying at foot of our bed and i just asked him to move up and lay the right way and he went off, screaming and yelling(that's been a problem), last night he was screaming at the top of his lungs and banging the wall, he can be so hateful for such a sweet kid. He brings everything around to Suzette. Now when Suzette was younger she alweays brought everything around to bio-dad never there and grandma who passed when she was 5, her counsler taught me then that it was her way of getting out of troub;e or a chore and that while that stuff may be bothering her it is not that bad at that time and to just keep saying things like "regadless of that...", and  "never the less...", she was so frustrated at one pioint she stomped down the hallway saying "never the less, never the less, i don't even know what that means", but it did work. I am thinking i may need to try that with him, will talk to counsler first, Suzette had not seen her dad for 12 yrs and grandma had been gone for 10 so it was old wounds, not nothing as fresh as David's wounds. Most of the problems we are having with him are old ones but seem intensified now, not to mention my head has been up my butt and he has been getting away with too much last few mo.  To top that off, I have said we live next to farm shop of landlord, right next only driveway seperating, hubbys bro works there to and his kids are there all the time(the in-laws), I try to keep David away from there as there have been windows broke that he end up getting blamed for, while i am in no way saying he is perfect, or above breaking windows, the in-laws kids are perfect(according to parents) and even though Chris(the mom) has watched her kids do something then say they didn't putting all blame on whoever was with them and if they were alone they didn't do it(have caught her doing same thing when she has done wrong, the one that stole my kids meds), any way, apparently yesterday one of kids drained $4000.00 worth of chemicles on ground and when hubby was leaving for work landlord called him over, told him what happened then said if he catchs David on shop grounds we will be evicted, no if, ands, or buts. In-laws kids aren't alllowed over there either, we'll see how long that lasts. Either it will be more peaceful with less company here or kids will have to stay over here whole time while mom is over with dad(wish for first choice).  I just don't know what to do, David swears he didn't do it, saw tub draining but thought farmers did it, he has been lying so much and my judgement has not been the best lately. He is so angry all the time, i worry so much if he can't find a way to express it. I don't know what we'll do if we have to move either, i hate to move, just keep David in the house til it blows over(hopfully it will)  Anyway just venting, and in-laws just called they're on their way over so i better go(not even dressed yet). hoping all have a good day. luv and hugs

Is David talking to a counselor? He may benefit from this...and ultimately you too. Another thing you might try...is telling David that he can sleep with you until....(you choose the day), maybe a week. Tell him often what the plan is...then maybe say...then you can sleep on sofa for ..x amount of days...and THEN...on this date...you will sleep in your bed. All stated in pleasant, positive terms... Stay strong and consistent...David will benefit from YOU and your support. You can do it...love and hugs...Karen

I can only imagine how tempting it is to want to give in to David.... I think I would be exactly like that... wanting to ease his pain and just the need to be so extra extra good to him thinking about all the if onlys we go through when we think about our child who passed.... still I think the not letting yourself be deflected with the guilt trips... you know the none the less type statements and the plan of action Karen spoke about are good techniques and that in the long run it will be better for everyone to have boundaries... I hope the problems going on next door ease up.... It is finacially and emotionally expensive to have to move... I am definitely saying a prayer as I write that situation gets better... Does David participate in any activities that might give him some focus away from these other kids... sounds like David and they might be feeding off each other\'s problem behaviors.... so they don\'t need to be together.... I\'m glad you vent because you\'re carrying a lot and you need to share the load girl... Its good for us to help you carry it just like its good for you to help us.... Working together is so blessed... Hang in there we\'re here in this together... Hugs Elissa

I\'ve never had that problem with my kids so I\'m completely unsure but with other situations I\'ve done exactly what Karen said above....give them a time limit. Maybe instead of giving him a week, allow him 20 minutes in bed to unwind and maybe have some story time and then he goes to his own room. It\'s hard to have tough love even on something like that because we want to comfort and keep them safe and happy. It\'s like anything else, it takes time. Best of luck with the in-laws kids. Some people wear those \"rose colored glasses\" and their kids do no wrong. I pity them. Take care. Love ya Robin
