Merry Christmas
Dear Johnny
This is your first Christmas in heaven and my first in eight years without you. There’s not a present under the tree for you or one from you to me. So I wanted to wish you Merry Christmas from here on Earth to you in heaven.
As of now you are two day shy of being gone five months. In those five months my world has spun more than once. Each time I think I can’t take much more it spins again and I’m shown how strong I can be because of what you and I shared.
Johnny, I wanted to give you a gift from my heart. I wanted to truly thank you for the wonderful love you showed me, for the way that you loved and accepted my family and the wonderful gift of yours.
What we shared was so tangible that everyone around us could feel it. We gave our nieces and nephew’s something to emulate and others a love to strive for. You were so awesome! Remember when I would ask if you knew how wonderful you really were, and you’d just tell me “I’m just Johnny.”
Gosh, mister you were so awesome to me. I love you beyond any words I could ever write. I feel like if I could put what you gave me into words there would never be enough paper to hold them.
Your gift to me Johnny is the love that you left behind. I don’t need any kind of fancy wrapping for that, since I carry it around in my heart and in my spirit daily.
This Christmas will be just a little different this year. You’re up there and we’re all here missing you. Because of what we shared I will try to not be sad, to not miss you so much and I will accept the gift of your love, in the blue sky, the bright sunshine and the big full moon that will shine on Christmas night. And as I look up to see these things I will think of your wonderfulness and thank God again, as I still do every day and every night for my gift of YOU. God gave me you Johnny Neeley, the best gift any woman could ever ask for. I’m so blessed and thankful that God chose us for each other. You are not gone from any of us, you’re just not with us right now.
Merry Christmas my Johnny, I love you forever.
