Yeah, I forgot to say that my son didn't even wish me a happy mothers day. He avoids it very well. He's so distant when he comes home from college, and it makes for a very long summer. All he wants is to borrow the car and stay away from the house as much as possible. Can't take no for an answer and expects the family to fall all over him, but he won't give us the time of day. We're beneath him and his friends. He treats them like royalty and the family like garbage. I want to escape sometime because this is really getting to me and my husband and daughters. Not helping me at night when I'm trying to figure out how to go to sleep. I dread going to bed in fear of not sleeping.

The fear of not sleeping will actually keep you from getting the sleep you need. I suffer from insomnia and finally had to go to the doctor and got some Ambien. It\'s good and it works. It\'s natural and won\'t cause drowsiness when taken as directed of course. I only have to take half a pill and it works. thought I\'d share this. I have an older son who drifted away for awhile. It was a different reason than yours, but it hurt badly. I just loved him and waited it out. I\'ll be praying for your son\'s change of attitude. Love from Ginny

I\'m sorry your son is being such a butt head but it is possible to tell him NO and stick to it. I know it\'s hard but there is no way in hell I\'d put up with that kind of treatment from one of my kids. If he thinks he\'s so smart and wonderful show him the door and tell him to do it on his own and see how well it works.

I have been wished a Happy Mother\'s Day in more years than I care to remember. If you have been reading my Journal you know my situation with my son. I sometimes take Melatonin at night to sleep.
I empathize with your situation with your son.

Thank you all for the advice. What hurts me most is how my son treats his dad and older sister. He is so good to his younger sister, and treats his friends like royalty. He\'s an Evans Scholar at Marquette University and it has made him very arrogant. He also is a dj and gets alot of attention. He expects us to fall all over him too and when he doesn\'t get what he wants, he gets nasty and stops talking to everyone. He loves to intimidate me and my daughters and loves getting in my husband\'s face, but doesn\'t win that one. When my husband has to go on business trips, it makes me nervous, because I don\'t know what he will pull with me and my daughters. He thinks it\'s funny that he can intimidate us. We have told him to hit the road, but of course then he says no. We\'re just a wayside for him, nothing more. He spends more time with his friends than his family. I told him to go live with one of them. This has been a rough few years. We don\'t know when he will ever realize that the ones who love him the most are right in front of his face. Of course he doesn\'t believe we love him, because we don\'t give him everything he wants. If only one of his friends would know how he really treats us, they all buy into his act like he\'s being picked on. I don\'t want him to leave, but also don\'t know how to handle the tension all the time. It\'s driving my husband crazy to see me so upset all the time.

Maybe, one day he\'ll appreciate you and his family. We can wish for the best. But I can only imagine how it hurts you and your family. God bless and comfort you. Clarence.

I\'M SORRY TO HEAR THAT. I BELIEVE THAT ONCE IN AWHILE A FAMILY GETS A BAD EGG BUT HE MIGHT CHANGE. THERE WILL PROBABLY BE A DAY WHERE HE SAYS HE\'S SORRY AND I HOPE THAT DAY IS SOON. MY GRANDMA HAD 2 BAD EGGS AND THEY NEVER RECOVERED BUT SHE\'S BETTER OFF. HANG IN THERE AND STAY STRONG
