I should try to go to bed and attempt to sleep. If only I could shut my mind off for the night.  Trying to stay off of Ambien, but not sure yet if I can.  Actually it's been almost 2 months since I broke myself of it, but some nights I get tempted to start it again.  I'm so tired during the day.  I wish I could go to sleep when my family does.

My mom has been taking sleeping pills for so long, that now they seem to do everything but make her sleep.. :o( I wish you the best in breaking yourself of it.. I wonder if there are other sleep aids.. If you know of any, please let me know..

Same here. Sleep would be pleasant, even if it was dreamless. Try melatonin, it is an herb or something like that which may help you sleep. Either way, I wish you luck in trying to sleep;.

I agree that melatonin is a big help in getting a good nights sleep but it needs some help. You can\'t take it like a sleeping pill and expect it to work if you don\'t start shutting down a half hour to hour before you go to bed.
I use it fairly often and make sure that we\'re done watching movies (no t.v. in my house) and that the house is either quiet or we\'re listening to a radio program and the volumn is down to a conversational level. Usualy I read a book while I\'m waiting to drop off and will regularly drink a glass of milk with my melatonin, milk has treptophan (same stuff that\'s in turkey and makes you feel sleepy) or you can do a half turkey and lite cheese sandwich with the melatonin either way it adds to the need to sleep.
On those nights when I really have my mind going nuts I pick out a fantesy to take the place of whatever is making me nuts at that time. Usualy it\'s something along the lines of remodling my kitchen (over the years I\'ve built every part of this house a couple dozen times in these \'dreams\') and I go through it just as I would if I were really doing it. Whenever my mind strays to the worry of the day I bring it back to my chosen venue and that is generaly so boring it takes me off to sleep before I realize I\"m gone.
